Post-GenCon Roundup

We did a lot of interviews about Eclipse Phase at GenCon, and the game has generated some significant buzz since it's preliminary release there. Here's a quick roundup of some of the interviews, news, and reviews we've spotted on the web so far:

If anyone knows of any others, please post links in the comments.

Dude, what would RPG.net BE without a thread becoming meandering and misleading?!?! Glad things went well, liked what I saw of the book in the interview (what the heck is an "Argonaut"? ah well, I'll know soon enough).

An argonaut is an outgrowth of a Jason :) -- only more technoprogressive and not so much a tool of the man :)

And a great pun for those who are familiar with their Greek Mythology. BTW: Seriously...Barsoomians? I wonder how many people beyond me and the writers are actually familiar with Edgar Rice Burroughs martian stories? That made me very, very happy!

The chargen looked really cool. I can't wait for this sucker to come out. Is there anything like the Tebbin knives from Richard Morgan's books? The knife had a virulent biological disease embedded in it so when you cut someone they would suddenly contract the illness, as well. And this wasn't a slow acting disease, this was like one of those "Outbreak" diseases x100 where the person immediately started bleeding from orifices.

Eclipse Phase Needs Further Investigation
I had only a taste of the game, but it caught my interest enough to get a closer look at it once it is in wide release. Trask, The Last Tyromancer www.livingdice.com

Here's a "Let's Read EP"

Here's a "Let's Read EP" thread on RPG.net.

I just gotta say that the "Let's Read" thread is killing me, and it is only on the second chapter. C'mon, "later this week" is almost past. Release the tapes...I mean pdf.

I really agree.
Rather embarrassingly I feel the same and feel a twinge of impatience knowing that a lucky few have the book. :) I've money waiting for pdf's, dead tree copies and supplements. Having put off any spending this month I'm really looking forward to this.

You would think that with how quickly the books sold at GenCon that putting this thing up for pre-order or even just pdf release would have been one of the first things to occur upon a return to work. At least that what my thoughts would have been. Hell, SR Anniversary Edition was up for pre-order and pdf release for 4 months before it finally hit the streets.

We're working on it but as I understand there were two issues that have delayed it somewhat. We will hopefully say more once it's out but for now we beg patience. Believe me, we want to get it out and in more hands, it does us no good to hold on to it.

I can't imagine what it is
I can't imagine what it is like to have something that you want to release to the public but can't do so yet. From my side of it, it is annoying because it has been released, albeit to only 100 people (well 99 not counting the moneygrubber that's selling it on ebay). I feel somewhat the same way about Rogue Trader but this is more bothersome to me because there is an electronic version available so it isn't like I have to wait for a boat to get here with the actual books.
H_plus_plus H_plus_plus's picture
Ah Rogue Trader
I did feel the same about RT but seeing what FFG are doing with WHFRP I think I'll pass. That's probably another story for another forum, however...

No problem Brian.
The build up EP has been given has me hooked. I've been gaming for 20 years and this is the first truly exciting product in years (in my opinion). It falls in line with my fiction tastes at the moment too, so that's another bonus. Can't wait!
