I used a combination of the rulebook, Google maps, and information found on http://www.firewall-darkcast.com to make this map for my players. They are going to be scurrying around Mars and I thought it'd be nice to have a visual aid to reference their whereabouts.
Map can be found here.

Re: Map of Mars
i dont know, i think your map contradicts the earlier, better established material:

On topic though, my only constructive comments are that it might be nice to have a border (dotted line?) around the areas that are regions -- such as The Zone and Valles Marineris. Speaking of which, I think Marineris is the long gash coming diagnally out of where you have Noctis. I'm not sure, though. its hard to get a sense of the scale of the thing from the flat projection, when im used to seeing it looking like so: http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/atlas/images/vm.gif
ooh, maybe some of these features would be more distinct with callouts or zoom-boxes? that might let you include a little information on the image as well, and make it more of a lively handout.

Re: Map of Mars
The map definitely has more tweaking to go. I was using an elevation map to try to judge how far the Valles Marineris stretched and I think I slapped the label too far east where it ends rather than the center where it should go. I was wondering if for scale I could apply a latitude/longitude overlay. Even distorted it won't be completely accurate, but at least give some reference point in scale.
I like the idea of call-outs and zoom-boxes. Didn't even think of doing that one. Now all I can imagine is creating an interactive map. My players have access to laptops during gaming and I think it would be neat to use the map as a campaign tracker and aid. They could click locations and bring up general information, notes from Firewall, and their own progress. Know any programs that would be suitable for creating such a thing?

Re: Map of Mars
you could do one of those HTML imagemaps. the kind where you have a jigsaw overlay on your actual image, or break an image up into smaller bits and hyperlink each of them. like was on all the cool websites 15 years ago. You can see modern examples on any corporate website that has one of those "click on the map to select your region" things.
But it sounds like more work than I'd do, myself. I'd just mock up a single map with the zooms and informational bits as different objects, using visio or some sort of desktop publisher, or even any image editor that supports layers.
I do like what you've got so far, its good to see where all the features are relative to each other. I think it would be nice to have a better view of some of the features, though. i think this is a pretty sharp image, and it comes both labeled and unlabled. also, not a mercator so not such crazy stretching.
