How doest one drive a robot?
That's about it. You can't sleeve into it, unless it's modified. I'm guessing the SOP is: 1) Turn robot on 2) Wait for robot to try and establish a wireless connection 3) Connect to robot 4) Overcome any security using opposed Infosec tests 5) Drive robot using the appropriate Pilot skill, or tell the robot to drive its damn self because you have other things to do by using Programming Is that it? I feel like I'm missing something.

you can teleoperate it (give it orders over the mesh) or you can jam it (like sleeving into it, but without actually uploading your brain). you can make drones out of any robot, morph, or vehicle and teleoperate them or jump in directly with jamming. when teleoperating it, the robot or drone's AI attempts to follow your orders using its own skills. when jamming, you use your skills through the drone. if its not YOUR robot, then yes. you'd have to overcome it with infosec first.

Is there a reason it's called "jamming"? That sort of conflicts with the real meaning of that word (such as jamming transmissions).

Not necessarily. "Jamming" might reference the fact that it allows you to control a machine that doesn't have the capacity to house a brain as if it were your own body. Think of it as the alternative to "sleeving", which is when you wear a body that can house your ego... "jamming" occurs when you temporarily jam your ego into a shell that can't necessarily fit it. Also, it could reference the fact that you are taking manual control of the machine, and interfering with the AI that usually runs it... "jamming" its standard processing systems.

i'm pretty sure that they just wanted to make up a word that wasnt already being used by Shadowrun or Cyberpunk. Since "jamming" is already in the index for electronic warfare, it does make it a bit confusing. What is even worse is that "teleoperating" is the Cyberpunk word for what is "rigging" in Shadowrun and is "jamming" in EP, while "teleoperating" in EP refers to what is known as "command chair mode" in Shaowrun rigging terms. its all kind of a headache.

You forgot the "have your muse do it" option. :) Which I admit, I would only use if it wasn't really a priority task.

a though occured to me given the progress of technology, the action figures (and barbie dolls) kids love must animated and either controlled by their muse or some narrow AI, programmed to stay in-character or follow any ideas the kid might have (transmitted by the muse) Think Small Soldier, minus the inherent hostility of the Elite Commando or passiveness of the Gorgonites. Those figures might also be connected to the Mesh in order to have updates on the product-line official canon continuity and software maintenance, in addition to spimes. imagine, your son's toys receiving new info while he watch their animated adventure on vids the saturday morning. But connection to the Mesh means the possibility of a hack, or even viral infection There, the Small Soldier scenario becomes a reality Another possibity, the Innocence scenario, a wealthy collector locked in a looping VR Space by his gynoid's AI that became a Seed AI and infecting other gynoids to kill their owner (idea inspired by GITS Innocence
