Using internet memes to generate adventures
A series of terrorist bombings & horrible accidents tear through several habitats. In the aftermath, security footage picks up a single child or neotenic morph present at the scene. Who is this girl & what is her tie to these disasters? A brinker cult have somehow gotten their hands on a TITAN relic that they believe to be the Time Cube as revealed by their prophet Gene Ray. Who knows what holy hell that they'll unleash once they crack its secrets... Children are being abducted from a thickly forested habitat, sometimes in broad daylight. They only lead the authorities have to go on are a few images from the kidnapping sites that show a freakishly tall, well-dressed morph with what seems like tentacles for arms. Who is this Slender Man? An entire station of 200,000 souls succumbs to an especially insidious strain of the Exsurgent Virus, swiftly mutating its hosts into hideous screaming horrors that weep black pus. All are joined in a chaotic hive mind & its emergent intelligence has given itself a name, Zalgo. A pair of girls go missing on a habitat, when they are found, all that remains of them is a biological sludge that could be poured into a single cup. Just when a character thinks they have succumbed to the final stages of an Exsurgent infection & begins to feel the last vestiges of their sanity slip away, they snap back to lucidity with a peppy drumbeat plays out as a red haired young man dances in front of a white screen, he sings "We're no strangers to love..." Dozens of people have mysteriously gone missing across a particular social network, all were seemingly abducted shortly after mentioning someone called "Candlejack", sometime in mid-sentence, its up to Firewall to investigate whats been happe...

With a bit of biohacking and maybe putting in an AI it is no problem making cute LOLcats. Except of course that people tend to underestimate the deviousness of very cute creatures speaking in a silly way that have been programmed with catlike goals and a not too low intelligence... Nine Lives have introduced a new punishment for less-than-cooperative associates: resleeving as a real bonsai kitten. A failed French-Croatian squid uplift project has produced a nasty substrain of sentient squid. Aggressive and deviant, they quite like attacking humans. On the other hand, they are themselves quite tasty. Snakes on a shuttle, anybody? And remember: rule 34 has never been revoked. But now it can be implemented in XP, nanotech, biotech and AI.

A Glitterati individual is suddenly boosted in popularity. Sightings , fictional facts & glorius deeds are attributed to this individual. A huge crowd of followers have become so infatuated with the mythical image of the Glitterati. They have begun to correct & fulfill fictional facts -making fiction real. The "lucky" genuine original is under the threat of becoming a cheap impersonator, replaced by a "real" mythical persona. An AGI may have decided to acquire a "new" identity, purpose & settle down.

This meme saw a huge rise in BF7, when someone created software that could edit digitally-stored memories and XP and convert it to 3-dimensional pornography. It quickly ended when someone created a virus version which would fabricate shock AR dynamically overlaying your vision of everything around you.

The AR version goatse.cx is still far preferable to the XP version. On the other hand, the rickrolling virus has been known to drive people mad. Especially when it hybridized with the exsurgent virus that used it as a cover.

You guys are sick and twisted. I like to contribute. A Narcoalgorithm is hacked into the system of a Hypercorp who produces High-Quality Olympians. All new models are compelled to do dumb but heroic things and have to acknowledge the name of the habitat they are on quite loudly before commencing violence. ie "This is Extropia!" Barsoomians actually achieve - with help from a sinister third party - to get some blueprints of Military Exosuits. They proceed to build themselves a dozen or so in a cave and basically, with a box of scraps. The characters get a new proxy who orders them every step they have to do. Bonuspoints if one of the characters is actually named Ramirez.

A few years back, a collection of anarchist habs created a synchronized simulspace network called AnonyMesh, notably known for the green-skinned faceless simulmorphs that all users are given upon entry, and the extremely liberal rules. Users are literally given free reign not only to speak their mind and alter the simulspace as they please, but a high degree of anonymity within the confines of the network. It has been famously used as a meeting point for a hacker group of the same name, who has utilized the network to coordinate both political activities and hacktivism. Speaking of which, a friend of mine was there yesterday and noticed an interesting article that was posted there. Apparently a Nine-Lives pit-fighting ring was busted by the authorities on Mars, and it resulted in a bunch of the enslaved escaping into the public. Most notable among them was a serial child-rapist, who had apparently been captured by Nine Lives a few months back and forcibly sleeved into a gene-engineered bear morph. Authorities have an all-points bulletin on this criminal, as well as all the other escapees.

You're officially my hero. From where did you dig up Croatia, I don't know, but as a Croatian, I can say - a failed French-Croatian squid as a personal identity made me crack up! :D I guess mentioning tasty Serbian calamari (in French) is the shortest way to piss it off? :D

That station blowout was not Firewall. It was a mass suicide.

A curious new product are are spreading. Clumps of smart dust & dirt have formed into small creatures feasting on energy & dirt. Left unchecked they can cause energy drain, clog up heat sinks & air filters. If threatened, some also spark static electric bolts. It looks like its the result of a rabbit toy with cleaning features that have gone haywire -though no toy manufacturer has yet taken credit for it. First though of a as a nuisance & a carrier for vermin, they have gained some popularity amongst kids & middle aged men as cleaning aids & toys.
