How can we prevent spamming "resources ego trait" for acquiring gear
The rules (June 08 2017) say you can acquire gear with this trait. But only specifies the time frame for acquiring it but not what's the limit of times you can buy gear. If you have level 2 resources trait can you buy any number of moderate gear items? Even with the time frame, if you are resting you just can buy a moderate item every 8 hours (at level 2). How do we prevent spam buying? Is there a cooldown time like the rep system? Thank you in advance

My understanding was that you can acquire only one item at a time. So when you want to equip wetwork team for an op yesterday you still need to burn rep, resources and favours.

How about at Chargen?
I suppose on a related matter, it seems like it's very optimal to *take* the resources trait for pretty much all characters. Is that something to worry about at the gaming table?
A slight smell of ions....

I don't really see that as a problem. If you're in the inner system, one would want to take the resources trait for character purposes if nothing else. Unless you're playing as a hobo I guess. Someone living in a tiny cubicle with only a bike for transportation is described as level 1 resources. In the outer system, it's not really required, but also not very useful. You can only spend resources on gear in places that actually care about your credits. That all said, I do kinda feel that there needs to be some kind of cooldown similarly to rep. I understand that the trait is an abstraction and means you're wealthy enough to pick these up without massively hurting your funds, but that kind of falls apart if you're purchasing enough arms to fund a small army over the course of a week. It also begs the question of if someone COULD purchase a major item every day no problem, that they only have 26 MP worth of gear at the start of the adventure, especially if they're playing active sentinels and not green recruits that have literally just been recruited.

As it's written right now,
As it's written right now, Resources 4 is kinda a sure and very useful trait to have on 100% situations, since it can be used to boost Rep rolls (and vice-versa, I think). Fortunately, if the GM feels like it's too powerful, you can loose it and get the points back. As for the "cooldown", there is already mentioned that you can use each level once per story, unless you wanna burn it. Having multiple requisitions going at once seems, to me, needed (so you can get all your resource acquisitions solved in 24 hours), or the players will always go for the Blueprint option (1 minute timeframe) and then print it on several machines. Also, remember that the acquisition rules are there explicitly for when time is an issue. If there is no rush, there is no reason for timekeeping!

Where does it mention that
Where does it mention that limitation? I know acquiring items via rep has a cooldown for each level (including "once per adventure" for major), but I did not see one for using resources. Also, it should be noted that resources is not quite that broken when it comes to rep: The examples given make it clear that if you're bribing someone as part of your strategy, resources can play a bonus. But that's up to the GM whether that's even possible, anarchist habitats may likely not care that you're bribing them with useless credits. As for rep boosting resources, the bit I saw was that many items may not be readily available off a store, so rep or research tests may be necessary to find one for sale in the first place.

I think it’s not mentioned, I sought it consciously before posting here. I think it is necessary a fix to avoid a PC with resources level 4 saying: “so I rest for a month and I have 30 (1 every 24 hours say the timeframe rules) premium gear or ware items”. Even at a smaller scale seems broken.

Depends on the pace of campaign. In my group it wouldn't fly. Wait for a month and Jove will be a sun with Dyson swarm of TITAN killsats and Mars will have 90% of surface in TQZ

Yeah, I know a lot of
Yeah, I know a lot of campaigns don't let players sit on their laurels too much, but if characters are used over several adventures in the same area, gear can build up if they're acquiring items on cooldown without repurcussion or drawback. And as mentioned earlier there's the narrative complications: I can get major cost items every day no problem, but somehow as an active sentinel it never occurred to me until I was literally about to run out into the field that maybe, just maybe, I could do with a plasma rifle and some better armor.
