Well, they want an October

Well, they want an October release. So lets grant that they'll be on time. Probably need two months of prep time, and printing time for october. So that means they need to be 100 percent done sometime in August. Now in August is also GenCon. Which will probably be Posthuman Studio big/moderate push for presales, and running demos. Statically, I believe the best time to do a rpg kickstarter, is sometime in may and june. You dont want to run it in july, as folks are pretending to save money for gencon in august. And lets say Posthuman Studio, will actually want to incorporate any feedback from the Open Playtest that'll happen during the kickstarter. So this means that the Kickstarter and Play test cant be in July, as the kickstarter and presumably the open playtest will last 21 days. Leaving them some 10-ish day of managing the close of the kickstarter, and incorporate the changes before they will have get ready to leave for GenCon. Maybe two weeks is generious so maybe they'll get get 17 days before getting ready for Gencon. 17ish days doesnt seem like a lot of time. So if they run it in June, that'll give them about about five weeks to manage the end of kickstarter and incorporate any changes. That seems more doable, if done at a running pace. So my money is in May, That'll give them about 9 weeks to manage the kickstarter and incorporate any changes. Attend GenCon and get the printing started for October.

I'm sure some feedback will be taken into account, but with your release in October, I cant help but imagine that the book is like 85 percent done. So unless the playtest incites revolt in how terrible it is. I am curious how mallable it is, or what kind of feedback you can take in.

You'd be surprised how much a game can change in a few months. Writing mechanics can be difficult, but it's also not impossible to rush. Back in my heyday I was doing like 1800 words a day on mechanics and design alone, plus change on additional fluff.

I've been at a professional conference all week and had to host a party *while the kickstarter launched*. Still bitter I missed the Immortalization window, but managed to tell a client, "Hold on. I have to back a kickstarter" and get in on the next best level. ;-) Fun twist: He turned out to be an Expanse fan and will be backing it as well, heh.

I think that there is going to be at least one more round of playtesting before the PDF is ready. But in the Gencon Panel it was mentioned that there is a deadline based on year end and paying printers and tax law complexity. I think it is safe to assume that the PDF will be out for a final proofing before the files go to the printers. I'm stoked for the new edition.

The backer preview in PDF format was released. It looks amazing and backers are emailing the PS+ team feedback and error reports. I can't say how much longer it will take, but I feel like consistent progress is being made and that the quality of the final product will be amazeballs.
