So, how about some addiction to drugs?
Hey, I'm just about to start playing in an Eclipse Phase game, the entire group being new. And I've made the terrible decision of playing someone not only with three debilitating psychological disorders and a massive debt to The Vory on Titania, but also as someone with a Major Drug Addiction (courtesy of one of the aforementioned Disorders). Now, the rules for Major Addiction says: Major: A character with a major addiction is on the rapid road to ruin. They face cravings every 6 hours, and suffer a penalty of –10 DUR (physical addiction) or -20 to Willpower Stress Tests (mental addiction). If they fail to get their regular dosage, they suffer a –30 modifier on all actions until they do. If their life hasn’t already been ruined by their obsession, it soon will be. I'm addicted to Comfurt, so that's -20 to Willpower Stress Tests, but what I'm wondering about are the cravings. Is that:
 • Every 6 hours, regardless of the duration of the drug?
or
 • Every 6 hours without being under the influence of the drug?
With Comfurt having a duration of 8 hours, it's obviously very relevant whether I can go 6 hours without indulging in the drug or not, and it makes the difference as to whether I eat two or three of these things per day. Drugs are expensive. I also like the idea of taking two hits a day and then going to bed, only to wake up with a pounding head, existential crisis, and an intense craving for your favourite yoghurt.

Hmm... I would go with once
Hmm... I would go with once every 6 hours. Your character can probably feel the effects of the drugs wearing off before it does wear off. Minor addiction is once a week, moderate is once a day (7 fold increase), and major is once every 6 hours (4 fold increase). If duration of drugs was all that mattered, then this 4 fold increase would have a much smaller impact on long lasting drugs. Plus drugs are supposed to ruin peoples lives...

I'd assume 6 hours without
I'd assume 6 hours without the drug in their system, makes more sense with the word "cravings" being used and is more in line with the other 2 levels of the trait.

Pretty sure it's 6 hours
Pretty sure it's 6 hours without taking a hit. It doesn't make sense for you to crave something mentally or physically if your body/mind is still processing the substance in your system.

Well they do, but imagine that you took a hit of something that lasts for 12 hours. But after 6 hours, you take another hit that lasts 12 hours. And after 6 hours, you take a third hit. Imagine the accumulation in the system. Does Eclipse Phase have rules for overdosing? Because if it really is once every 6 hours, then we're really going to need some real fast. :D

Rules for overdosing on drugs
Rules for overdosing on drugs? No, not to my knowledge. I tried looking not to long ago but I didn't find anything. The only bad stuff about drugs that I could find are the side effects mentioned in the drugs themselves and addiction.

Can you overdose?

If you don't have medichines,
If you don't have medichines, definitely, if you do, probably but the dose might be measured in kilograms. If you have toxin filters you'd need enough that physical trauma is a serious concern. That's about as in depth as the radiation poisoning rules :p
