I am in the computer field as a network admin. I see the relation of firewall to my job and ask why not other components of networking are not there?

can't resist
Ah, but the components of networking are there!
You've got Networking: Autonomists, Networking: Hypercorps, Networking: Scientists... Why, you've even got Networking: Ultimates!

joking?
I'm guessing that was an attempt at a joke. we are talking load balancers, and such here.

namely for mechanical brevity
namely for mechanical brevity, You go into the complete minutia of Network security and infrastructure and the gameplay will grind to a halt for the non infosec members of the group. The devs here formerly worked on shadowrun and tried their best to avoid that as they could while still keeping hacking part of the game.
and yes he was making a joke :P

yup
The Infosec rules are already more elaborate than most people want to deal with. In every game I've played the GM sliced it down to an interfacing roll to find the appropriate connection, then an infosec roll (which may be an opposed test if the system is actively monitored) for the actual intrusion process. Sometimes it was even simpler than that.

not referring to infosec
referred to Firewall sections. there are servers, proxies, etc. already. I refer to additions such as load balancer as in a job that an individual transfers the activities to undertake between servers in cases where a server is loaded up and another has resources available.
another example clustering where a stand by server and their resources are kept up to speed on activities another server is doing in case of mission failure or loss of assets by the first server then the second immediately sends a mission team to take up where the first left off. these are examples of ideas as Firewall is using Information Technology nomenclature. I.T. guys should know what it is I'm referring to here.

Yea, its not that we dont
Yea, its not that we dont know there can be more detail in with network architecture. The increase detail doesnt really mean, increase depth, and it defiantly doesn't mean increase fun. Often times, a group of players will have an hacker.
Everytime they have to do some hacking, it for the most part, forces everyone to stop playing. The more minitia they have to manage, the longer it takes, and the less gets done. Meanwhile, what are the none hackers at the table suppose to do?
Its not an uncommon rule for shadowrun games, to say 'No Deckers', just due to how much time it takes for them to do anything.

giving up
your not getting it, this is not hacking. this is Firewall in how its departments are set up. not computers, Firewall, secret organization, main setting of the game.

We used names from network
We used names from network terminology that sounded cool and left out others where we had a non-IT name we liked better (e.g., Crows).
