Actually there is a rather simple workaround to resolve the conflict you described. In Extropia, your person is also the property of yourself. Therefore, harming your person could also be considered a form of property damage, just with the catch that you are some extraordinarily expensive property. So the AGI pursues the case as property damage and collects a large settlement, setting up a shell corporation to carry out the contracts and collect the payment if necessary. In a more general sense though, corporations are also a useful end-run on challenges toward your personhood in general. As much as the other party may insist that you cannot act as a legal entity, they cannot deny that a corporation can, because that is the entire reason corporations exist in the first place. The fact that the corporation is entirely under your control and acts in your interest has no bearing on its ability to enter contracts or participate in transactions.
Thats an interesting way of working around that. Thanks!

So, here a question, that I've been rather curious to. How long until EP Transhumanity becomes post scarcity? As presented in the books, its not post scarcity, as there arent enough bodies to go around, there arent enough stations or cpu time to handle all the egos. But part of scarcity based economy, is the exploitation of new resources, which then lower its costs. Sol, has a defacto infinite amount of resources, and the exploitation of other solar systems just compounds how many resources Transhumanity has as its finger tips. Eventually the industrial capacity of Inner System, and Outer System will begin to cost defacto zero, as resources cost defacto zero as well. To a point where enforcing protection of the market, through forcing consumerism hurts it. Eventually, nano 3d printers are going to get cheap, and large enough to build new habits to always match demand. Eventually, its not a question, if the materiel goods exist, but the logistics of acquiring them.

So, another showerthought... how are minors treated in extropian societies?

Oh, I think thats pretty easy
Oh, I think thats pretty easy to answer. Under the laws and ethos that their progenitors are under. They would have rights and responsibility, under those contracts based on that contracts definition of personhood. They couldnt opt out their custodian contract until they reach their custodian contract age of majority.
