X-Risks cover and Electronic Release Date!

We're excited to finally show you the cover of X-Risks, by the talented and amazing Mark Molnar! If you thought a swarm of nanomachines was just ... pesky ... maybe you haven't yet seen them disassemble an entire moon? X-Risks

X-Risks details the dangers facing transhumanity:

Over 60 creature and machine descriptions, classified by challenge level.
Information on extinction threats, from AIs and aliens to nanoplagues and wormholes.
Coverage of the TITANs, exhumans, exsurgent virus, Factors, and other hostiles.
New exsurgent virus strains, psi sleights, and xenofungi.
Traps for high-tech dungeon crawls.

Damn. I'm going to need more hellfire (plasmaburst) grenades. A lot more. Edit: Me, myself and I were having a fork think tank session in simulspace time acceleration. We've come to the census that we might need to design a new class of weapon to deal with that kind of threat.

Hardcover? PoD?

Other than the PDF and Hack Pack, what other formats can we expect this in? I couldn't find if this has been stated yet. Not sure what the page count is, so I don't know if hardcover or Print on Demand would be the more appropriate path here. Eclipse Phase is one of the only RPGs I bother getting in dead-tree format just because they look so, so pretty on the shelf, and I'm old-school enough to still find them faster at the table than a PDF. Timing on this is perfect... my group is just wrapping up a more investigation-exploration game now, and in a few weeks we'll be starting a guns-blazing campaign. More fodder for me to throw at them is always good.

We're doing a full print run of X-Risks, available direct from us and in game stores. It's at the printer right now. As a general rule: if we release just a PDF without POD, there's a print run coming. If we're releasing a brand-new POD title, we try and launch it and the PDF on the same day. It's more convenient for customers, less work for us, and frankly, sales are better when we do it that way.

Probably not about to happen for complexity purposes. More purchasing options can lead to paralysis-by-analysis situations. Add 'em all to your cart, there's only a couple handfuls of 'em! :)

Wait/Weight of the Book

As I'm flying over for GenCon, I was wondering if the print copies will be available then, and what they might weigh once printed (I hope to get at least 4 EP books I don't have on the trip). I have luggage issues to sort. I'm even bringing shoes I'll leave behind so I can free up more space for games at the Con. (I have a friend who once boarded a plane with 7kg of books strapped to his body to avoid going overweight for a long haul flight).

Getting X-Risks into stores

Getting X-Risks into stores took longer than expected because it was at the printers when we started our distribution change, which we announced today. Had to get a bunch of things in order before it could start shipping. Distributors -- and thus stores -- have been ordering X-Risks and it should have started showing up on store shelves last week. Please give your local store a shout and let them know that you want a copy -- with the sales transition, some of them will need an extra nudge!

Any names we can drop regarding which distributors our overseas FLGS can get them from? I asked about getting one ordered here in Aus and I got a "umm, I can check..." Maybe a nudge in the right direction? Or will there be a Print on Demand service?

Please point your store to this link, and ask them to forward it to the distributor(s) they use: http://posthumanstudios.com/business-info Getting overseas distributors on board is taking more time than I expected, but I'm exploring a few more angles for Australian distribution. :)

Good news/bad news situation... Its back in stock with Indie Press Revolution...but the cheapest UPS shipping option is more expensive than the book itself. As much as I love Eclipse Phase ( I have print copies of all the releases)...if you think I am paying over $50 to get it to the UK....you are quite frankly "trippin' balls".

International shipping is expensive. Save that money so you can afford to trip some balls yourself. ;) We're still working on reestablishing distribution with the main distributor in the UK; progress has been made, but we aren't far enough, yet. Frankly, I didn't think it would take near this long for things to get sorted out, given that EP has always been a strong seller in the UK. Please, if you're in the UK and Europe: talk to your local store, and specifically ask for X-Risks (sell sheet: http://posthumanstudios.com/files/EclipsePhase_X-Risks_Sellsheet.pdf ). Stores will then ask for it by name to their distributor. We need a bit of pressure from both us and stores to get some of the distributors moving, it seems!

Thanks for the update Adam :) I have contacted Esdevium and they say they are working on it too...so hopefully at some point you guys can meet in the middle and we can see Eclipse Phase back in stores over here. I'll keep pestering them from this side of the Atlantic.
