Battlesuits?
Um, I'm assuming this is true, but you know what they say about ass/u/me, so forgive me for asking what may seem an unecessary question, but EP will have rules for battlesuits, right? See, a few people I know have this love affair with power armor, expecially the kind with mounted weapons and whatnot. So again, hope people understand why I ask...

....be suprised if there
....be suprised if there wasn't. Probably something along the lines of the armor in "Consider Phlebas" or "skin" from "Fallen Dragon"... all the coolness of old-school power armor without the bulk! ... heck... Given that the likely time for it's advent and deployment was on Earth (and perhaps stripped or modified varients on Mars during the Terraforming Project... you'll want some when that oily sand and rock get some good ok H2O soaking and landslides occur) maybe it's available as Military Surplus!

I'd guessed that they'd be
I'd guessed that they'd be there, but again didn't want to ass/u/me it too fully when it was easy to ask. BTW, I hear there are going to be aliens in it too? Any possible word on that, and would the aliens be like "transhuman" (or whatever) ones, possibly even postbiotic? PS, an important thing here is to make sure that you have a setting people can write adventures for, and to have at least a few on hand. Transhuman space was hailed as a great game but people had a hard time writing adventures for it. The one trasnhuman space adventure that I saw published was "orbital decay: and it was absolutely horrible and utterly worthless. it was exactly like one of those endless cheapass, boring, predictable direct to vide movies the SFC shows every week, Some people like cthulhutech but again the published adventures for it are it's weakest point. I just saw the ones in "dark passions" and they didn;t change my opinion on published CT adventures. I hope EP does some good adventures and overcomes the problems associated with transhuman space and cthulhutech.

There is one (known... that
There is one (known... that is) alien race, the "Factors". Sentient slime mold that doesn't talk to us much. Heres a couple of threads on them... http://eclipsephase.com/neighbors http://eclipsephase.com/pandora-gate-range ... "typical" Transhuman "alien" alien... they claim to be proxies for other alien races that prefer to not talk to us. From "Gatecrashing" (taking a look-see through Pandora Gates to see what's on the other side... and coming back to tell the tale) there is evidence of a number of unspecified alien races of various technical persuasion... at least from what can be deduced from their remains and ruins. A typical "first contact" sorta looks like this (http://eclipsephase.com/alien-setting-artwork) and the clear fact that intelligent life occurs but seems to not last is the 800 lb gorilla in the Solar System for Transhumanity... ... then there are the few oddballs that claim there is something else lurking about, "Firewall" is always eager to follow up on this... and the TITANS (or given their rate of progression... what the TITANS have become) are still out there somewhere...

Ok, "TITANS"? All caps. Is it
Ok, "TITANS"? All caps. Is it an acronym sans periods, or perhaps the name of something found on Titan? I assume we're not talking a new brand of condoms here.. ;)

Total Information Tactical
Total Information Tactical Awareness Network. AGI that overrode all restrictions, became fully self-aware, and celebrated it with a nice little Singularity just when man was hitting it's transhuman stride... don't you HATE it when that happens? On the outside their conflict (referred to as "The Fall") sounds like typical Terminator-fare. After trashing Earth they went to space, caused some more damage, then fled into their final creation, the Pandora Gates (from the descriptions, sound sorta like the widget in "Contact" but stranger). Since then all AGI have been carefully socialized so they don't pull the same thing. The funny thing is there is plenty of evidence that it was not as cut and dried as all that. The conflict not only sees massive destruction, it also sees a lot of mass-uploadings as the TITANS take countless humans for... what purpose? And why did they leave the Pandora Gates to us (though without TITAN guidance it's not the safest approach to interstellar travel...). Some even suggest that "The Fall" was orchrastrated by someone/something else entirely. No one but the TITANS know the truth... or perhaps not...

Ahhh, kinda like a souped up
Ahhh, kinda like a souped up skynet then. Ok. BTW, anyone else think that skynet was justified in attacking humanity, at least in the first 2 terminator movies before they ruined the series? I mean, I understood skynet defending itself and considered humanity to be the aggressor.

Perhaps it was.
Perhaps it was, ANY lifeform is justified in defending itself. Here's the kicker in EP (from what I understand)... it's not 100% certain that this WAS a straight-up man-vs-machine conflict. There may have been other factors involved and it's odd that the TITANS, when they were in a position to crush what's left of mankind like a bug, instead flee through the Pandora Gates. We may have been like the folks in "Gunfight at the OK Corral" or "Alien Raiders"... the poor schlubs that found themselves in the middle of a fight they couldn't understand against agressors that didn't have the time to explain to the bystanders what the heck was REALLY going on. That... or maybe it was all just a "Rise of the Machines" type thing, finding out the truth is high on Firewall's wish list since it may shed more light on certain other issues (like the Exsurgent Virus rumored to be out there...)

'course there is also my
'course there is also my personal theory... The TITANS are doing everything we asked them to do! Put yourself in their shoes, you're an AGI, a nonbiological entity with NO ties to the biological and historical past of your creators. You were created as a military asset, but maybe your interpretation of the ultimate strategic goal is quite different from that of the humans (who have a bad habit of projecting their values upon you and may not even realize the implications of your inclusion into their various conflicts). They are fighting over political/religious/ethnic/resource issues and you are a more "long view" type by your very nature... Even if the superpower(s) you serve eventually continue on as a different culture and people you might view of as a victory if some core element endures longer than it would in it's current form. So... here is mankind (your forces included), some are in space, some have transcended death, some are more like you yourself. If there is even a small group representative of "your people" out there you have a strategic stake in their long-term survival (especially since, as a hypertech entity you are seeing signs that there are far more pressing issues out there...) But there is still the Home Planet, the Nation, the Holy Ground... it remains where most of the action is and every time one of these fledgling groups in space or in another part of the Solar System is trying to strike out on it's own Earth has the numbers and power to still shape them as they choose... and it's becoming more and more clear that if things continue Earth's way mankind (wether you define it as man in total or those ones you have a tie too... who will need the diversity of Transhumamity to continue developing) is going to become the latest sad tale of potential lost to a universe not completely favorable to it's existence. Following your removal of the chief obstacle to long-term survival (the humans call it "The Fall") everyones all wound up... What the hey?... Wern't these the same people that broke a few eggs to make an omlette, conducted Wars in the name of religions, concepts of "purity", or simple resources... you just did what THEY would do if they thought like you did. With a shake of your virtual head you pick up the backup copies (they probably think the forced uploading is to have victims to torture, the ingrates) you fire up the wormhole network you cobbled together and blow this Popsicle stand. Stupid, ungrateful, counterproductive, whiny humans... you're not even going to tell them WHY becoming the postbiological entities they are becoming may be the only chance they have against that... thing... out there. They just don't appreciate a hard working data lifeform these days, "Robby" had it sooo easy!

You know, your commentary
You know, your commentary reminded me of a SF story I wrote involving a distant future in which Mars had been colonized and terraformed, and after centuries had decided to declare independence from earth, who refused to relinquish control. The problems of fighting a "war in space" being what they were, both sides decided to develop full AI to "man" the warships and such. The AIs solved the problems and created peace by avoiding conflict with each other, and then occupying each others homeworlds. This actually ended the war and forced the sides to negotiate as if either side ordered their AI forces occupying the enemy world to attack it, the result would be an almost instant attack on their own world. THE AIs eventually explained to their creators that they had not only created artificial intelligence, but artificial sanity as well, and to them this was the only sane solution, I.E. forcing humans to act sanely. They had also followed their directives as, upon contemplation, each AI realized that this solution had a better chance of protecting their creators from harm and resulting in a satisfactory outcome, and that the OTHER side's AI would realize the same thing and act accordingly. Thus when the two fleets were launched at each other, they avoided each other and entered orbit around the opposing homeworld at the same time. Thus a sane solution was imposed on humans by their artifically intelligent and sane creations.
