Crazy terrible or crazy useful?
If my character sticks forks of his muse several dozen times into a server box to analyze surveillance with a high time dilation, is he a monster or just utilizing his tools effectively? I mean, it's sort of screwed up since Muses have human-like minds and can suffer SV like transhumans, but at the same time, if it works (and does it work? Muses have a INT of 20 so they have the intuition to perceive and scrounge for accurate information I would think) then its worth the cost? Or is it a grotesque thing to do to your childhood friend/helper? In my character's defense, he is a sadistic monster and a member of the Lost generation, mostly I am curious about the effectiveness of the strategy and just how terrible it is to do this to a Muse.

OK first you need to divorce
OK first you need to divorce mechanics from fluff. So ignore stat lines for a moment. From ap ersonal perspective it depends on whether or not you perceive the muse as being human or human equal person. if not then you a re maximizing a tool and your muse has not likely developed much in the way of personality or unique expression. however if you do perceive your muse as a person and force them into this then it is little more than a slave labor venture. from an external locus many muse rights activists are going to regard this worse than infomorph indenturing. as for a quality information extract... that is going to largely depends on your muses customization and I think betas of yourself with a couple supplemental skillsofts would be more efficient and avoid moral quandaries.

It'd be pretty useless as
It'd be pretty useless as muses lack the Investigation skill needed to actually analyse surveillance data. A monitor AI would do a much better job. AI skill packages could fill gaps there, but a monitor just starts at a much better level. Muse AIs are pretty single minded about the well being and actions of their person, so prolonged isolation from them would probably not be very healthy for the muse. Delta forks pruned to not having social tendencies or boredom would probably be the most ethically safe things to use short of purpose built AIs.

Our group lacks a Psychosurgeon so I wasn't able to craft a Beta fork to do it myself. Investigation-based AI would be better? Got it.

Yeah, a muse lacks
Yeah, a muse lacks investigation so it only gets to roll off of its base INT score. A monitor AI doesn't have investigation either, but has Profession: Surveillance which it can complement in for a +20 bonus. It's basically twice as good. A purpose built AI would be a lot better, but I only looked at published stuff.

So, if I'm reading this
So, if I'm reading this correctly, you're asking if you can get muses or other infolife to each take chunks of a video file and go through it at information speed to find a face or an event. I agree with the folks who say that a standard muse likely doesn't have the skills to do this well. However, there are custom muses. As for the "exploitation" issue, it depends on how you do it. Frankly, there are probably a bunch of anarchist habs or dark mesh collectives that you could upload your file to for a fee and their infolives would parallel process it in a timely manner. Whereas multi-copying your muse may cause it to run less efficiently, if for no other reason than it might not be designed to work well with itself.

Contextually, we are on a Scum swarm, and all of this work is done on an air-gapped server in our fortuitiously private suite (Scum are not so amiable towards notions of privacy), so my character forks his muse into the server, then forks the server-muse a couple dozen times, then feeds this bucket of thinking power (granted not quite transhumanly thinking) and tells it to find faces/events (mostly looking at all of the newcomers to the swarm because some of them are reskinned enemies we are tracking). Specialized AI would be useful it wounds like.

If that's what you're using
If that's what you're using it for, than simple facial recognition software seems like enough.

Ah yes, well the person we
Ah yes, well the person we sought changed faces (and sex). I think I just needed to get creative because the GM wasn't going to let us just get a piece of easy software to just find the person in no time. The EP reddit had someone remind me that AI's cannot default on skills. So their better than human INT score means jackall in this circumstance.
