Questions about doing a demo-session
I was asked to do a demo-session in a local store for Eclipse Phase for a local rpg-forum (well, the shop doesn't actually carry Eclipse Phase…it seems that it's rather hard to get a copy here in Germany…I found only one shop in the internet in Germany that carried it and that shop had 1 copy…). Being enthusiastic about Eclipse Phase (greatest thing since sliced bread imho) I will of course do it :) Now my question: Any suggestions for a demo-session? I have around 4 - 5 hours for explaining the necessary stuff and running a mission. What would be the best to introduce the players to the game? There are so many new concepts in the game that I find it hard to get players realizing their meaning (my group started at around session 5 or 6 with forking…only the "hacker" really uses his muse etc.) that I have actually no real idea what would be the best to introduce several players to it and what the most important concepts would be. Because there's this local rpg-forum what would be ok to put up for a direct download? Even so the stuff is licensed under share-a-like I'm feeling uncomfortable in putting up all the PDFs that are available right now…

Since you are only doing a demo, the quickstart rules should have everything you need to really play a startup of the game. Hell, just have them read the first parts of the quickstart, choose their character, and then run your own premade (if the quickstart isn't to your liking). Otherwise, yes you can theoretically distribute the books freely as Creative Commons share-alike products.

Re: Questions about doing a demo-session
I personally like (and have tried) the general ideas presented here: http://www.eclipsephase.com/looking-some-help-upcoming-game-im-gming To have the players first do the ego part of their characters, then wake up in a VR simulspace as newly activated infomorphs (having been in storage since the Fall) and chose morphs etc worked out as an excellent introduction to EP for my players!
