Playtest v2 thread!
The playtest is now live! We've included Delphinium One, the Fate adventure from Gen Con 2015, to get you started quick! Linky-link: http://eclipsephase.com/downloads/EPFate_Sept2015_Playtest.zip We'll post a formal survey, but in the mean time, feel free to post feedback here.

Yaay! Thanks a lot!!
Yaay! Thanks a lot!! I have a question though. I've noticed on p.11 rules mention about the two Fate aspects, High Concept and Trouble and then it says : The other two aspects are freeform, to be drawn from anything that you (or others) described about you character above. If I'm looking at the character sheet, there's only 1 "slot" for Freeform. Is this a typo of the character sheet is wrong? Thanks!

The Firewall Loyalty aspect is optional. You can use that slot as a freeform aspect instead (handy if you're a n00b sentinel/not using Firewall). I'll tweak the field label in the next rev of the sheet. Thanks!

Before you ask, we will be adding some suggestions on how to tweak things for a non-Firewall game. :)

Hmm, I'm not sure I get the meaning of that sentence :
Quote:
(p.34) The only exception is if you sleeve into a morph with a stunt cost, but you can't afford that Refresh: you can still ride that morph, and will have to spend Refresh on stunts for that morph (unless you genuinely don't have enough Refresh to do so normally).

Looking Good
I was able to read through most of the playtest and I'm really liking what I'm seeing. Definitely a big step forward from the v1 playtest. I like how morphs are handled. The skill list looks pretty good. There are one or two surprises, but not necessarily bad ones. I feels like about the right amount of skills. I really like the character sheet. But yt would be nice if it included a section dedicated to temporary aspects and notes. The mechanical subsystems are looking pretty good. I'm excited to see rules that play to Fate's strengths and model stuff that EP core didn't. It helps fill the gap from the rules Fate doesn't handle as well as EP core. So far I'm pretty excited. I'm definitely going to try to setup a session or two to test it out.

Awesome!
This look great! A major improvement over v1. It has an action espionage vibe that I really like. I've been working on a homebrew a Eclipse Phase / Night's Black Agents / Fate mashup for awhile and I like a lot of your design more that what I had come up with. I *really* like the way you made nano-fabricators a skill-swap stunt off of programming! I like the way morphs are handled. My only concern is that "traits" might push players towards informational overload. Between ego aspects, morph aspects, temporary aspects, scene aspects, and stunts there's a lot to keep track of. This is a complex setting, so I see how they'd be useful in remembering what a particular morph can do in the fiction, but I think you could achieve same effect more elegantly with just aspects. To steal an example from one of the older feedback threads, you could have: Pudgy, Obsolete Ruster Biomorph Built for Survival in the Martian Outback That said, I've totally used an analog of traits in other Fate games to help keep track of player's gear (which didn't provide any mechanical bonus beyond narrative permission). It worked well, made things feel a bit more crunchy than vanilla Fate. Anyway: two thumbs up, I'm stoked to try this out!

I scribbled down a few random thoughts as I read over the packet, but I've mostly skimmed and zeroed in on stuff that caught my eye rather than take apart every sentence so forgive/correct me if I missed anything or screwed something up. In character creation, might want to flesh out what is meant by 'spending at least 2 refresh.' Are characters being required to spend for extra stunts or an expensive morph? (Also, the section on Spending Refresh still makes reference to tags and the original playtest version of rep) It's unclear as to whether refresh cost for morphs is a direct cost like Extras in Fate Core or if that's just refresh you have to spend on morph stunts. I'm glad the 'fields' aspect of Skills has been removed in this version. I also prefer treating rep as Skills, rather than an entire subsystem grafted on. I like the design of the Civ Rep stunts, they emphasize the nuance and flexibility of reputation in Eclipse Phase without giving up the elegance of Fate mechanics. The 'Right at Home' Somatics stunt still makes reference to Integration or Alienation rolls that don't exist, just like in the first playtest. Maybe allow a Somatics roll to remove the temporary aspects associated with integration or alienation, or have the stunt just remove the aspect altogether. So glad that the morphs have been simplified down to just some basic traits and available stunts. Even if some of the mechanical differences are relatively minor between versions, presentation counts for a lot. Is Mental Speed a trait or a stunt? The morph descriptions and trait list disagree. Do Scorching attacks do physical stress to Infomorphs (page 37) or is deleting/damaging them based on victories in the conflict (page 61)? I could see a couple interpretations but I think it needs clarification.

francophone playtest thread
I started a thread at eclipsephase.fr. If francophone fans want to discuss over there, I'll do my best to read their comments, too. http://www.eclipsephase.fr/forum/index.php/topic,4283.0.html (Offer extends to German & Spanish fans as well... If you'd like to start a thread in your language, I'm happy to follow it! Sorry, Scandinavians, I don't know your languages well enough yet.)

Morph mini-cards?
I've an idea. Looking into character sheet I thought, why not print a small morph-card independently to put into charsheet, when needed. So, you can return to your previous morph pretty quickly. Basically any way, from few cuts to place angles to two-sided tape. I admit I don't know best desision, but writing and rewriting morphs gonna kill char sheet fast. It's a major part of the character, but also the most replaceable. You might end up modifying morphs less often, than switching them, if I'm correct.

Really happy with this so far
Really happy with this so far; it's miles ahead of last year's offering. Tying morphs to Refresh is a surprisingly elegant solution, as is how you've made Gear work. I can't wait to see more Morph Aspects and the rest of the material! (As an aside, the pregen characters are /delightful./)

One question I've got, why is
One question I've got, why is there a special aspect for characters currently egocasting? Or is it just meant to be something like the integration/alienation temporary aspects? (But the question is still why it's a special trait for egocasting as opposed to normal resleeving.)

nitpick: typical count of proxies within a server
Firewall page 27:
Quote:
Servers can be anywhere from six to fifty proxies in size.
compared to the TH's FATE PDF (page 8) I am reading now:
Quote:
Most servers have 1-5 proxies, with 3 the most common number.
