Did I violate the CC license?
Hi! Firstly, I want to apologize. I do not know if I had chosen the right subforum for this topic. Secondly, I have to ask about... hm, I will explain the situation. As you may know, I am currently translating the Eclipse phase into Polish. I am publishing my translations fragment on Polter.pl, which is a Polish website related to RPG and speculative fiction. Polter is not wholy non-commercial. It has its owner and there is advertisement on the website. The owner is having some money from Polter, althrought I do not know how much. I got no money from translating EP, however, for every piece of translation I am rewarded with "Poltersztons", which are kind of points. I can exchange the points for books during Polter-auctions. Now there are two unclear things related to Creative Commons Non Commercial and Polter: 1. Is that alright to publish Noncommercial work on commercial website where owner has profits from it? 2. Is that alright to publish on Polter if I got Poltersztons form in (but there are not real money)? There was a discussion on Polter about that and it is still unclear for me, so I want to ask you, the creators, about your interpretation. Putting it simply, do you want me to publish on Polter or perhaps would you like me to create 100% non commercial project using, I dunno... wiki software? And one more thing for clarification - I Publish on Polter mainly for two reasons. The first is "reach" - Polter.pl is one of the biggest RPG sites in Poland and publishing here I am certain that my translation will reach many readers. The second reason - on Polter I have free redaction. I am not a editor myself, just a translator, and free editors really help me with my project. I thought I should explain my motivation in that case.

Be aware I am not affiliated
Be aware I am not affiliated with PH+ as long as the owner of the site charges $0.00 dollars for it there is no issue on a monetary conflict. since those points are not a real currency and have no value outside that site I'd say there is no conflict

Dear ORCA:
Dear ORCA: Yes, I think exactly the same, however, there are people who see it differently, so to addres the issue once and forever, I need official information from Rob or other member of Posthuman Studios - hence this topic.

This is why I'm not a huge
This is why I'm not a huge fan of copyleft; you'll have to wait and hear from Posthuman, since there doesn't seem to be a unified rule with regards to CC licenses. I know some people allow secondary income, while many others do not—the original copyright holder has to get involved. That said, I think that there are certain non-issues; someone hired as an editor for a CC-related project can still profit off of it, even if the person hiring them does not personally own the copyright in the work, because they're providing a service, but some of the more radical copyleft advocates might say otherwise. Disclaimer: I'm not a copyright lawyer, but I did take a class on it (at an actual law school, which is a story longer than most people care to hear).

We just discussed the work you've been doing, and we think that in your specific case, there's no violation of our CC license. In general, we don't encourage re-posting on profit-making sites (have another takedown notice, scribd!), but we're okay with this.

Oh, while we are at it, could
Oh, while we are at it, could you also discuss what to do with my translation project? I haven't had a meaningful update in months, and while I can understand that there are many things that precede this in terms of priority, one can't help but have concerns. If you are wondering, what the heck I am talking about, ask Rob Boyle or Adam Jury, they will know. Help me, Jack Graham, you are my only hope. It is likely, that the only answer I'll get will be (again) something about a ton of other responsibilities and not enough manpower. If that's the case, pleas Posthuman Studios, save both my and your own time and don't answer at all. Many thanks in advance.

Sorry you haven't heard back. I'll bring it up at our next weekly meeting.
