I've been eagerly awaiting the FATE book - I adore EP but loathe the mechanics, and FATE is my favorite system, so this is a match made in heaven - but things seem to have been awful quiet on this front. Any news?

My guess (based on what I've seen other companies do) is that after The Powers That Be run some demos at Gencon, they will incorporate lessons learned (which would be a few weeks to a month, depending on what they learned) and then unleash the public playtest.
RPG companies hate to announce something and miss a deadline, so they tend to sit on dates until they know they're going to hit them.

Well, I have an update!
Still no dates, but here's what the EP Fate team has been up to. Fate ran at Gen Con, and we got generally positive response along with some great, detailed feedback from our GMs. We also held a Fate Q&A with Ryan Macklin at our booth on Saturday afternoon, whereat he had a bunch of people bending his ear about the ongoing design process. Ryan is working on incorporating all of this feedback into the first Beta draft.
The scenario I wrote, a Jovian diplomacy/espionage piece titled "Sympathy for Uncle Silence," generally got thumbs up, which was nice, considering I'd never written a Fate scenario before! But I'm going to give the nod on this to the GMs, whose good instincts probably deserve more credit than what I put to paper.
I've also run the Alpha draft once for my group (using this same scenario), and we found it played quite smoothly -- especially given that none of us had ever played Fate. Compared to a Core EP game, the pace was much faster, with less careful planning and more bold action. Fate, of course, is great at enabling this sort of thing. I found players who are normally very cautious actors jumping in and rolling with stuff that they'd never do in Core EP, driven by the lure of sweet, sweet Fate points.
Remaining to-do before we go into beta: fine tuning of combat, and a bit more work on subsystems like Psi and the Mesh. We had limited versions of these in the Alpha, and I like the direction Ryan is taking them -- so it just remains to get them humming in full detail.
We've got some nice momentum on this project coming out of the show, so I expect to have another update for you soon!

"Ladies and gets, I give you...
Jin-Aural, the first Ear Bending Master in a new generation!"
Tenzin, "Venom of the Red Lotus"
Aside from this potentially spoilerly bad pun, I'm really excited about this.
I think it'll fit great for my group, who likes lighter system to favor narration, including in combat.
At this time, we're mostly using a French made system from the games Dragons De Poche and Nanochrome. They had asked me if I could make an NC version of EP, but it's really a daunting task and too heavy for my skills and time table. So I think Fate will provide a really good alternative

I really can't wait for it...FATE has become my go-to system for any party now, it's just the one I'm more comfortable with and EP remains my favorite rpg!

Update?
What's the latest news? Will the clanking masses ever be able to see the alpha that was played at GenCon? Will anyone ever learn that gatecrashing will be the undoing of transhumanity?

There's a chance, but we need to give it another dev pass and we didn't want to color the playtesting experience by having everyone run through the same scenario first-thing.

Yeah, the Gen Con scenario
Yeah, the Gen Con scenario was me, with really limited experience, trying to figure out how to write a Fate scenario. I'm less willing to subject the general public to it than I was to our awesome & long-suffering con GMs. Also it's written using the Alpha rules, so needs a pass.
Also strong second on what Adam said r/e having people do the same scenario. Fate is by its nature very freewheeling, and I wouldn't want to constrain that. You guys will find way more interesting stuff to tell us about left to your own devices!
It will see the light of day at some point, though. We're going to play it by ear whether that's during the playtest. Thanks for the vote in favor of getting it out, in any case.

I'm about to take a group of new players through Continuity with the "standard" rules, and one of them is an experienced Fate GM. I'll run the playtest rules past him and see if he has any thoughts on it after the session.

I'm guessing they'll do another playtest at gen con then maybe do another open beta test? I'm still excited for it, but I don't think a finished product is in the immediate future.

Throw us a bone
Please can we have some kind of statement about this ? It was promised as part of the kickstarter and we're over a year down the line and nothing other that a flawed playtest document.
I love Posthuman's products, but you guys have seriously dropped the ball on this one.
If you're struggling with it can't you get some additional help ? The Evil Hat guys seem to be very good at adaptations - can't they help out ?

Jack's been hard at work on a complete revision, which will be used for the Fate games at Gen Con this week, and then the second public playtest pack will be rolled out.
It's later than we wanted and intended, absolutely. It's also going to be better, and that's the most important thing in the long run.

But is it for all the backers of Transhuman or just for backers of a certain tier?
