Scavenger/Rescue Op Crew roles?
If you had an ideal team, with useful redundancies and overlaps, of say 5-8 transhumans, who were going to salvage/scavenge/rescue a derelict Fall-era freighter, loaded with cryonic perserved (stackless) flats who were refugees heading out to Saturn, what roles would you need? My party has five members currently: A singularity seeker AGI, trained in Infosec, Psychosurgery, computer science sort of skills A 'former' pirate/carbon reaver, trained in pilot and combat skills An anarchist hardware specialist/ship repair type (DIY Shipywards alumni) An Extropian negotiator/spy/info-broker, who sells xenotech, their social-face character A scum biomod specialist, medic and psychosurgeon type If they were to add any to their number, what roles remain unfulfilled or would be useful enough to metagame justify? I lack the 'Firewall says work together' angle and as it is Saturn/Outer System, I haven't been able to just throw money their way. Any thoughts?

It seems like you got the basis covered. I think a more realistic crew would be double that, with redundancies. And you would probably want more engineers to disassemble ships into compotent parts. Though I suppose crew's ship Muse is capable enough, that the ship doesn't need Ego minding it 24hrs.

Engineering skills, good idea. Others I got incl. historian able to appraise the Old Earth artifacts that the ship will have (if it has flats, it ought to have some stuff, presumably) as well as an extra combat specialist (just in case), and grief counselors/reintegration specialists (its been 11 years and the Outer System is weird compared to Earth). Engineers and Nanotechnology specialist is a good idea!

Scavenging/shipbreaking
Scavenging/shipbreaking specialist, though it becomes less important if they intend to reignite the drive and move the ship as a whole. Potentially a number of vacworkers like this, depending on how much the ship is coming apart or being repaired. Someone with a TITAN centered background would probably be helpful, for recognizing fall-era traps faster, and hopefully before its too late. Seconding a nanotechnologist, at the very least keeping the recyclers happy seems important.

as long as it is not the crew
as long as it is not the crew of the Luis and Clark you will be fine :P An environmental systems expert would not go a miss in order to get the fall era ship inhabitable again.the combat monkey should be cross trained in something else to keep the player feeling useful. An EVA specialist will be most useful. As for morph types I keep on thinking the nova crab would be a prime choice for salvage engineer.

I do intend to invoke a certain Lewis & Clarke atmosphere... or rather their destination, an [s]ancient[/s] old ship that seems haunted.

A small group alone on a huge derelict. What could go wrong.
I'd throw a Scout-archetype in the mix, specialized in FreeFall, Perception, scrounging and/or investigation - someone to check for hazards and traps, and find the best pieces of salvage. No-one wants to use a plasma cutter to crack a hull and watch a half-dozen pieces of Pre-Fall art fly out into space, burning as they go. Drones should also be available, either running Forks of the group or controlled by a dedicated character - which a scout would excel at.
In the past we've had to compensate for weaknesses, finding quick solutions that only benefit a few. But what if we never need to feel weak or morally conflicted again?

Bot Jammer / Drone Rigger, as well as Infil/Exfil specialist, also good idea! I like that it isn't too hard to cover a few roles at once with a standard character.
