Hi everyone, sorry if a similar subject has already been made.
I was reading the rules about hacking and I suddenly asked myself : "okay, so I know how much time it takes to pass through the firewall, but how much time does these pretty cool subversions actions takes ?"
Is it up to the game master ? I thought a little and told myself it can really depends since finally you can do a bunch of different actions but i'd like to know if there's any precise rules about that. I don't think it takes the same time as to pass the firewall, but maybe I'm wrong.
My guess is most of these actions would take a complex action (or quick action for some) if you had the right type of account, since you basically navigate by thoughts, but how many times does it add when its treated as a subversion ? Or is it usually a quick action and subversion makes it complex ? Does it even change ?
I'd love it if the book had a recap of some commons actions classed by type (as in Shadowrun).
Thanks in advance for your answer, and sorry for my english if I made any mistake !

If they aren't stipulated as
If they aren't stipulated as as task action, then they're just complex actions. In particular, I believe their just mental actions.

Thanks for the answer, but I
Thanks for the answer, but I can't find it in the book. I suppose your right, it doesn't seem wrong to act as if "when it's not tell it's a complex action", but I don't find it in the back. Furthermore, I saw many people speak about mental actions but can't find anything about it in the core book. Did they actually missed something this big in the core book and add it in another ? Or am I blind ?
[Edit : I just find something about mental actions in the multitask psi sleight and some augmentations, but clearly, this deserves a paragraph in the actions types part of the book !
Just for exemple : infomorphs have basic speed of "3" but they obviously can do only mental actions, so they can do a mental complex actions by phase and have 3 phase, but someone (not infomorph) with extra mental actions (max 2 by phase) could do more in one phase but is more likely to have less action phase, am I right ?]

Yes, someone with
Yes, someone with multitasking/mental speed/certain sleights gets more mental actions per action phase. Someone with speed gets normal actions in every action phase they get. Someone with both gets every action possible. This allows someone to potentially have 12 actions per action turn, 8 of them mental only.
I believe the timeframe for subversion actions is whatever the action would be if it was allowed, plus an infosec test. A lot of simple hacking actions will be simple actions, with certain ones being complex actions, depending on what they are and the GM's judgement of them.

Yea, there is defiantly some
Yea, there is defiantly some gm fait to it. Like if you were searching a data cache, that could very much be a task actions. And there are loads of other things that can make infosec stuff take longer. Like a lot of real world hacking, is about exploiting real world stuff. Like waiting for a shift change or waiting for a new hire to use their credentials to gain access to the network.

Well thanks you two for your
Well thanks you two for your answers ! Everything is clear to me now. ^^
Once again a remember that mastering is not just resting on what the book says but merely about judging what is coherent (and finally that's what makes it cool) !
