14.04 Ubuntu?

14.04 Ubuntu?
Singularity works just fine under 12.04 for me, but 14.04 isn't letting me open it up. No error message, it just doesn't open. It's enabled to be run as a program, so I'm assuming it's a library issue where something's missing from 14.04?

I see your problem. You're using Ubuntu. ;)
That's odd... *edit* the libraries you need are shipped with the binary. You shouldn't need anything else installed on your computer. It's running normally on my Debian 8.0 install. Did you remove anything from the singularity folder? If you run from a terminal do you get any output there? *edit for pre-coffee errors*

No command 'Singularity' found, did you mean: Command 'singularity' from package 'singularity' (universe) Singularity: command not found It seems to think I'm looking for the linux game Singularity?

Open a terminal. Navigate to
Open a terminal. Navigate to the singularity folder. If you keep singularity on your desktop the command would be: $ cd /home/username/Desktop/singularity Once you're in the folder you can run singularity with: $ ./singularity Let us know what it says.

./Singularity: error while loading shared libraries: libQtWebKit.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory But the libQtWebKit.so.4 is right there, it's 24.8 mb and apparently unable to be opened?

Try: ./Singularity-wrapper.sh I mean, I'm sure you already did, but do you get the same message?

I was about to reply without checking that it was the same error message, but good thing I checked because it's slightly different. ./Singularity: error while loading shared libraries: libgstapp-0.10.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory No idea what the library even is.

That library is in the
That library is in the package libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0. I don't know much about Ubuntu, but I'm guessing that package got automatically removed during the update?

Nope, and in fact I've re-downloaded and re-extracted and so on. It's kind of baffling me, too, which is why I came on here...I thought maybe it might be an easy fix someone was aware of, but *shrugs* idk I mean, I can just dual-boot into windows and use it there, but all my music and documents are on ubuntu! It's not a major issue for me, just annoying. If I ever figure it out, I'll let you know!

For what it's worth I ran an
For what it's worth I ran an ldd on singularity and it appears to be using the i386 versions of my local libraries. I don't know if Ubuntu handles multi-arch the same way we do, but you may want to double check you have both the i386 and amd64 versions of those libraries installed.

It's gotta be something at my end that I'm just not seeing, I just grabbed this: https://packages.debian.org/squeeze/i386/libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0... and the deb loaded in the software centre with Installed and a check mark, so if everything's in order there's probably some conflict I'm just not seeing.
