Ceres Questions
In Rimward (pg. 21) its states that Wujec is a ice warren and bathyscaphe habitat. Does this mean the bathyscaphe habitat can detach and descend to the lower depths? I kind of imagined Eclipse Phase bathyscaphes being like the underwater drilling platform form the movie The Abyss, just without cables attached to the surface structure. Am I picturing this correctly or do I have the whole setup wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

I did the same
Hi I imagined Wujec in the same way, with the bathyscaphe habitat attached to the rock/ice celling. There are other habitats on the rocky core of Ceres and I think it's much easier to go 20km deep with a submarine than an entire habitat :-) Ciao

Look not into the Abyss
The book (thank you for page number) says that Aventine and Wujec are connected by an elevator to each other, and Aventine has a Mass Driver for orbital business. That means Wujec was designed to be stationary, and probably custom built to stay at that pressure (with a proper margin of error If the Worst Should Happen). I'd probably take the Abyss model and turn it upside down. The site relies on the Bathyscaphe configuration to keep a neutral/positive buoyancy, and has structural members to keep the less robust hab bits from crushing on the ice. It will likely have trim tanks to keep from snapping the elevator, but it's not likely to have the ballast configuration to turn into a giant submarine. On top of that, just like Deep Core, Wujec probably does not have its own propulsion beyond the most basic station keeping screws to compensate for flow. Instead it would rely on underwater tugs (because tugs can be used for other work while Wujec is hanging out).

It will look into you
Also worth noting, since Wujec is designed to be a near-surface settlement, it is likely to be designed for that water pressure. This would mean that (at least by the standards of Ceres ops) Wujec would have a pretty absurdly high crush depth. The benefit of that is this is where you can really go whole hog on the visuals. Wujec is pretty definitely the only hab in the area with windows. External lights would also likely be common, along with citizens diving in suits with scuba or mods. The moon pool you remember from the tug bay would work here. You would have a lot of traffic milling around, and not just commercial either. This is actually pretty legit, too, because it's expensive to build high durability (especially when you don't actually need it). Escape pods are a thing (a hilariously easy to design thing), and if you're operating in a depth where (modified) transhumans can swim, you can basically install fire doors and be done with it. Airlocks are still a thing, but you don't have to go down like Coffey If the Worst Should Happen.

Thanks for the help. Gives
Thanks for the help. Gives me a better idea how to imagine the layout of the place. Going to make most of the ice warren the living and business areas and have the bathyscaphe be labs and working areas. Do like the idea of windows and outside light, so will set aside a large area like that. Thinking of maybe tourist viewing areas and some kind of exotic night life area. That should give an area for the Hidden Concern to make money from too.
