Anyone else excited about the new Deus Ex? I've found it to be a pretty good analysis of post/transhumanism, though I'm disappointed to see that most of the places I saw that were discussing it didn't really understand the meaning of those ideas. Looks like it'll have some more grim elements to it, which I like because it might come close to the whole clanking masses idea in Eclipse Phase.
I picture the Adam Jensen portrayed in the trailer to be the sort of thing that an Eclipse Phase transhuman with some good combat mods (neurachem, bioweave armor, etc.) can do to people who aren't combat-specialized.
You can watch the trailer on YouTube:

Also, I have this urge to always read special characters in titles literally, and MΔnkind Divided one of the most painful examples I've seen so far.

I am excited for the game but the series i think has never delved too deeply into the philosophies of cyber augmentation and transhumanism. its fairly hard to do so in videogames since you have to keep the escapism quoatiant high.

I think that the level of depth in the discussion is heavily dependent on how far into it you go. It's a case of accessibility trumping depth, but if you read all the background fluff provided in game through the various in-universe sources you can find there's a lot more discussion going on. I think it doesn't go as far into the whole morphological freedom thing as it could because they don't want to sort of start and end the debate with "JC Denton/Adam Jensen is the best and we should wholeheartedly support human augmentation as a step forward.", as would be the tendency.

I loved the trailer. As for transhumanist thought, DH:HR goes a lot further into it than most games. If nothing else, it introduced some people to pertinent ideas.
