Outstanding 4 minute piece that captures some of the iconic vistas and experiences humans in EP would have... highly recommended viewing.

Very moving piece of art, great vision. I don't agree it's only pre-Fall. Scene on Mars with a blip remind me of One million year echo, Titan flyers could be post-Fall as well. Obviously Earth depiction would be pre-Fall. Also Mars seen in a scene with orbital lift is underdeveloped for post-Fall.
Overall, it's great, visually compelling material, moving imagination and bringing longing for a better future, free of down-to-Earth thinking.
Honestly, I'd watch a whole movie of just that. No unnecessary drama, no great advances or dire consequences, just people living life out there because we can. One of the things I like about EP is the wish fulfillment of being out in the places I've read about for so long. Having them depicted so realistically makes me hope I can live long enough to see it happen!

I wonder if the Posthuman team is willing to CC license the setting material for a film? Or maybe team up. Do a Kickstarter.

As a group of Martian Rangers charged with guarding a 600km stretch of the TQZ.
I'd stick with Ridley... and give him a smarter script to work with. :)
A team of Firewall Agents from Titan sent to secure a possible TITAN artifact in Extropia, are foiled by Ultimate agents and dogged by a Project Ozma cell, wind up in a race against time to reach a long lost facility on Earth itself.

Sedge (Chiwetel Ejiofor) Firewall Agent and faceman of the team
Dornier (Kate Beckinsale) Firewall Agent and hardass combat veteran
Zale (Kristin Kreuk) Firewall Agent and TITAN expert
Barnicle (Zack Galifinakis) Firewall Agent and technical/mechanical guy
Keller (Christian Bale) Project Ozma Team Leader
I'd vote that whatever form this hypothetical movie would take, it needs at least one entirely serious uplift, and octomorphs have always seemed like EP's "face" uplift. And to be clear, not as a funny animal comic relief character.
It's too bad that filming extensively in microgravity would be too expensive.
any ep film would require karl urban and vin diesel.
while ridly scott is excellent with pacing I am not sure if he could capture the vision required
i think this is one of the rare pieces where we would have to have a committee of directors each in charge of a very specific area of the film
We should totally do that.
And I'm torn on who I'd pick as a director. Pete Travis did a fantastic job with Dredd, as a similar small-scale approach might be a nice way to avoid absolutely overwhelming audiences with EP's rather steep learning curve.
On the other hand, I would have zero complaints with a feature-length Planet Earth-style documentary, with little five minute short dramas fleshing out each major part of the system.
I think before we can pick a director I think we need to pick an Era. Pre fall or post fall. Peter Travis would be great post fall but prefall we need someone who would capture more wonder instead of grimdark

Why would we make a movie that introduces people to a universe that no longer exists in the game.
Make the movie to introduce people to the game.
I feel like a humbler and probably animated (easier to arrange microgravity etc etc) would be easier to accomplish. Way back in 2009-2010 wasn't there threads about an EP movie?
Edit: animated series, like webisodes or anthology, to best capture the myriad possibilities in the game.
How about something "Sin-City"-esque?
I'm thinking a having three or four distinct yet interconnected plotlines, each with their own director and visual style. We could have Ridley covering a small team on the TQZ, then switch to Del Toro for a gatecrashing mission, and Travis covering a group of uplifts trying to escape corporate oppression, all linked through incidental encounters through characters, having forks of the same character in each scenario but played by different actors, or having the same actor play multiple characters sleeved into identical morphs.
Gods, I can see it now. Scarlett Johansson as a hypercorp elite trying to recover the Uplifts, whilst providing support for the gatecrashers! Ben Browder as the hedonist roped into rangerhood at the request of a friend, and also the genderless AGI combat bot struggling to cope with both being stuck with a gender and being immersed in a hostile, alien environment! A brothel where every worker is played by Megan Fox! Sean Bean as the only person who doesn't die!
It would be glorious.
As an aside, I have a few sci-fi shorts, game cutscenes and film trailers/clips bookmarked which I use for inspiration. Should we maybe create a dedicated inspiration thread?

In the past we've had to compensate for weaknesses, finding quick solutions that only benefit a few.
But what if we never need to feel weak or morally conflicted again?
