A couple of months ago I was invited to speak at the Global Existential Risks and Radical Futures Conference in the Bay Area about some of the work I do. The organizers have put videos of the talks online including mine; the slides are not in frame but . The quality of the audio is not the greatest due to the accoustics in the building being somewhat problematic. I hope it is of interest to the Eclipse Phase community of fans and players.

It needs a transcript. I
It needs a transcript. I think I heard about half of it. Near the end I think I was starting to get used to listening to the bad audio. After the vid, I then I went to go watch something else and discovered how loud I set my speakers :(
Some of the stuff mentioned I have heard about. Some of it is quite worrying. I do believe that there are people out there making an effort to obscure facts and replace it with lies. Obscurantism, I think that is the word. That and the spread of bullshit really hurts our understanding of the world and our ability to continue to learn more about it. We can not make good decision without the facts, without it the only good we get is through luck.
Thankfully, things like Khan University does help. If you explain something well once and have it recorded, you can replay it as many times as you like. Replay it until you understand it. Let the world see it and watch it at their convenience. The TED talk video I've watched on it said it has really changed how class rooms work.

I watched it a second time. I've decided that the audio quality is so poor that I would not recommend the vid to anyone.
I'll check out the slides. Hopefully I get a better idea of what was being talked about.

I found the slides useful. If you can't make the video work, maybe you could expand on the slides and write a blog or something.
