Continuity Adepts
There are some people who think consciousness is the result of electrical activity in the brain, that consciousness is more than simply a collection of data and that that consciousness can not be copied. They view copies as entirely other people although with the same personality and memories as the original.
To them, the lost of the neural impulse means death for the consciousness. As a result, these people resleeve rarly and do so only by using realtime resleeving: the only mean for them to transfer the original neural impulse from one body to another (This last sentence is tru only if this is possible technologically speaking even if it means tweaking ego bridges a little or a lot and if it really means moving the neural impulse from one body to another, not copying it.).
They still make backups and use cortical stacks, but the reinstanciated ones considers themselves as entirely new entities, progeny of their previous self. They organise funerals for their past instances and grieve them.
Continuity Adepts see alpha forks as children and will never merged or prune them. They will never create lower grade forks and when they egocast this result in one being at the start point and one being at the arrival point.
They see erasing of an instance as murder even if there are other copies of teh one to be erased in existance.
New instance of a person often adopts a ,new look, new mannerisms, to differentiate themselves from their previous self.
They breed biologically and will always try to solve a problem without creating a fork or egocast or resleeving. They are strong users of rejuvenating treatments instead.
Considering all of this, the Continuity Adepts are not very well accepted in the EP universe, they are often viewed as outcast who live with ancient and obsolete views about identity and death thus they tend to hide their beliefs in fear of some repercussions of some sort.

Re: Continuity Adepts - Embryo of a new Faction
I don't really see this as a single faction. In some ways, its a somewhat more moderate version of bio-conservatism, and would probably be found among individuals among multiple factions. I could see it as particularly common among surviving members of some old-earth religions.
At this point, I don't see why they would be underground. They aren't breaking any laws in most habs, unless a hab requires you to fork or resleave at some point. It would be inconvenient to wait for someone who refuses to ego-cast, but that's hardly a reason to actively persecute someone. I would think having a contact who held this philosophy would be a little like having a friend who refuses to own a car or a cellphone, and who also follows strict kosher rules. They've made a lot of choices that make your life difficult when you want to get together, but it isn't something you're likely to want them to be thrown in jail for.
If you want them to be persecuted, I recommend making them a little more contrevarsial. If they don't just not ego-cast themselves, but also advocate for ego-casting to be banned, or if they try to take revenge for people who erase forks, then people might be hunting for them. As it stands, I think most people would just roll their eyes and move on.

Re: Continuity Adepts - Embryo of a new Faction
Like Benji says these Continuity Adepts doesn't seem to have a reason yet to be persecuted,
Then it hit me. Fundamentalism & Ideological fronts. The Majority maybe good-standing & peaceful. However like many factions of ethics, it has violent fundamentalist fronts. Nonbelievers inhumane & murderous acts "mandates" activists to take direct action against it. The aggressive rhetorics, methods & riots eventually tipped the scales to its breaking point. Tarnishing the entire faction. Thats why the faction members now would hide their beliefs in fear of repercussions.
"Do we have riot control?, Demonstrators are sure to come"

Thank you very much for your comments and advices. I'll try to write a better description of them with more development about the things you mentioned.
At first, when I thought of them, I saw them being persecuted because it is in human nature to reject or destroy things, creatures or people that are not like us, that we don't understand.
And those people with so strong and strange beliefs could be persecuted like the first christian have been by the romans.

Re: Continuity Adepts - Embryo of a new Faction
I don't see that happening nearly as much in the world of EP. Generally, most of society, especially amongst the outer habitats, has a very liberal outlook on reality. The biggest issues you might run into involve bio-conservatives, which would consider your believes agreeable but too lax. I'd see their acceptance as something more akin to Jehovah's Witnesses, who are a part of the Christian community, but are largely alienated and considered to be of their own kind. Many of their core beliefs will be acceptable, but bio-cons will especially disagree with their beliefs on alpha forks, which they see as a perversion of nature/god's will.
Otherwise, they are essentially a branch of bio-conservativism

It's also important to note that persecution usually only happens when an idea is perceived as dangerous. To use the example given, the Christian world view was regarded by many Christians and Romans to be in direct contradiction of the authority of the Roman state.
In this case, I would say that the best option is King Shere's. Put a little violence in the extreme corners of the movement and you have yourself an underground group. Otherwise, non-members probably would regard it as a quaint oddity.
