So I know something of a similar nature has been done (see here). The disadvantage of this is the majority of my group uses (ugh) iPhones.
Is there a good cross-platform app for messaging my players around a table? A format like a chat room is ideal.
A plus would also being able to set/change a nickname on the fly to allow the GM (me in this case) to assume different identities.
My reason for this all is for 2 things:
1. I have a certain player who is a bad meta-gamer and likes to abuse information.
2. My campaign is focusing on horror and conspiracy and this would only allow me to further paranoia them.

I am unsure of your physical setting. are you all in a room together or doing this as an online platform?
if you all are in a room together simply pass them index cards if you want one player to know something but not the others
online solution is an IRC chatroom. to send private messages with a player open up a query with them

Its face to face. I host in my own home.
I worry about things like index cards getting lost.
Although if I hosted a private irc on my PC i could probably use that. I know there are a few irc cilents for android but I'm unsure for iPhone.

either you have a nice
either you have a nice journal for the campaign to allow you to reproduce note cards or its their loss and nicely mimics a person's ability to forget things. after all even though we play as it pc's should not have eidetic memories unless they take the trait.
I'm asking around my networks so i may have to get back to you about clients.
EDIT: the results of my trolling are 3 clients. Colloquy, GodZilla and Lock up. of these i have only heard the of the foremost before
