Bot/Vehicle AI costs
Page 343 says: 'Almost all of the vehicles in current use, including all of the vehicles listed here, have built-in AIs capable of piloting the vehicle under almost all circumstances.' I'm assuming this extends to bots as well, correct me if I'm wrong. However, Bot/Vehicle AI is given a price of High on page 331. So... What's going on here? If bots and vehicles come with AIs, why would you ever need to buy one seperately? And if they don't, the sentence that says they do should be removed.

The most obvious answer is "so you have an AI that is slaved to you for use in stolen ships". Remember that AI can recognize their owners, and commandeering a vehicle often means having to disable its default AI. It'd be nice to have one for you to use once you do that, no?

Except that if you can buy a normal (and cheap) vehicle, you'd then be able to copy its AI and proceed to use it for whatever dastardly deeds you might want to use it for.

The vehicle AI with high price might simply be more skilled and flexible than the default vehicle AI. I think many vehicles have very rudimentary AI, little more than local reflexes and driving skills, while leaving all route planning and "higher" functions to the traffic control AI cluster. Which of course means they will *never* disobey traffic rules, do something radical to evade pursuit, drive without revealing their position or strike up a personalised conversation.

Until you realize that vehicle AI is unique to that vehicle type, and purchasing that cheap vehicle for its AI results in you being able to steal other cheap vehicles. I mean yeah, you can probably use an AI from a similar vehicle to largely the same effect, but there are perks to using the same AI (namely, a vehicle AI has extremely high knowledge of its own vehicle specs).

Good point. The AI that comes standard might be limited to test-less actions in your vehicle, while you need the expensive, purchasable copy to be able to allow it to make tests (such as when driving under fire).
