The core rules under skills show several examples for Exotic Weapons:
MELEE: Morning Star, Spear, Whip
RANGED: Blowgun, Crossbow, Flamethrower, Slingshot
But no weapon stats for the example weapons
Has anyone worked up the stats for these weapons?

The Spear shows up as a basic Melee Weapon, though. I mean it's a pointy stick, cavemen used them with no training.
That's a good secondary point- what's the line of complexity you cross that turns a normal weapon Exotic? I mean, a flamethrower is a Spray weapon, considering a Freezer works almost the same way.

the full -30 for using a "close enough" weapon skill should be more like -10 or -20 for edge-cases. Like, I can get how a Thermal Lance would actually be hard to wield, despite Farcast saying it was a Blade. That thing's got a blade made of molten metal that's probably going to start dribbling like a candle after a while.
I'd say the Exotic Melee Weapon category is for weapons where untrained users stand a good chance of hurting themselves just by doing a few practice swings. Something like a three-sectioned staff, a chain whip, or some experimental chainsword (Think Ivy Valentine, not Warhammer).
