Players Heading to Meathab
My players are farcasting into meathab to search for a scientist hiding out there. Have a rough idea of the hab but would appreciate any ideas on details of the hab. Trying to really drive home the idea of its weirdness.

- make it clear there is not a single straight line in the place. Everything, from the halls to the tables are bumpy, curvy or both. - doors are clenched muscles, kinda like an sphincter, that much to touched in certain way to make them open. - instead of cameas, the surveillance, the hab security nodes consist of compound eyes and antennae. - if you touch the walls you can feel a beat, not unlike that of a human heart. - tell the players they are better off not knowing what the bathrooms are like.

Food in their accomodation is produced by 'teats' that provide gel foods in many flavours. The air con/climate control feels humid like 'breath' (but not smelly). Many tasks that would be done by bots are done by smart roaches or other bioengineered life.

Schismatrix ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schismatrix ) is quite interesting for this particular theme, since it has a whole chapter devoted to a transhuman we see in the first quarter of the book turned into what can be described as Meathab. As we can read in the characters section of the wiki, Kitsune is the name and the Dembowska Cartel "location" the chapters you should look for.

If you can find it, John Varley's "Titan" - part of his Gaea trilogy- has a biological torus as the primary location of the series. There's a good bit of description in "Titan",though I haven't read the rest of the series to say if that carries throughout. I should note the torus is tremendously larger than Meathab so it wouldn't port right over, but a fair amount of the structural design would be perfectly adaptable for our purposes. Well, the problem with Gaea
Well, the problem with Gaea it's precisely its size: it's so big, it takes all the first novel before the protagonists get to the point to realize it is a "biostation", not to mention that it has a primary brain and several redundant ones (which are now so big, they have each its own personality!), and it's so old it will die of "self-destruction" caused by its multiple brains "rebelling" against the "central authority". It can be a good example, however, of how a habitat made entirely in a biological fashion needs not to be obviously biological, and the "brain chambers" are good examples. Also, it gives some ideas of what happens when that "habitat ego" decides to play god, creates several races of creatures, and needs to stablish a way to keep them from breeding out of control (in the first novels, it's through war. Later on, things changes thanks to one of the discoverers of the station). Thanks for the site, by the way, I didn't knew it existed and it's quite interesting :)

Instead of the public benches
Instead of the public benches common on most habitats, MeatHab has large bean-bag like warts. They look disgusting but damned if the things arent the most comfortable bean bag chairs in the solar system.

I approve of this. They also have the ability to massage. The trickiest part may be if you want to incorporate the fact Meat Hab has a sense of humor

The mode of fast transit is like a throat. You get in an egg shaped shell that is slimy on the outside. When you are in it, the pod is moved along the throats and diverted to the correct location using the same kind of autonomous response that makes sure food goes to the stomach rathet then the lung.

Okay this kind of a weird one. Ever seen a duck penis? It is all curly and is able to fill any number of odd shaped tubes. You could base the unbiblical docking tube off that. Its not actually a penis, mind you, it just expands and unfirls in a similar fashion.
