We're very very close to releasing our EP character generation app, and rather than spam this forum with updates we thought we'd put a couple of screenshots up on a blog:

Let us know what you think / what you want to see / how you'd like it to work etc etc

Hey, do you guys take
Hey, do you guys take donations? If it's released for free, I'd much rather at least throw, say, $20 bucks to you guys, cause from what I've seen this looks pretty cool. If you're implementing lifepath, then I'd give you a thousand kudos, cause that's gotta be one bitch of a programming task!
Anyways, I'm not sure if it's me, but it seems like I can't find a page detailing the program.
How will it take to future releases? We know there's one more book coming out for Firewall, but I would hope these developers would give us lots more stuff! Basically, will you do patches like Redigit does for Terraria? Even without big content updates, how do you plan to patch issues we may find with the program?
What features does it have? How will it handle saving character sheets? Is there a feature to generate random PCs/NPCs?
I'll stop there. Those are a few chunks to nom on, lol.

Darn, one of the other devs
Darn, one of the other devs of the app here; I'll answer your questions to the best of my ability:
- If I understand the Creative Commons licensing correctly, we're not allowed to charge for the app. I'm not sure how that affects donations. However, (and I'm sure I speak for Andy here too), I'm humbled that you'd offer to do that.
- Lifepath is on the roadmap, but it won't be in our preview release, we've got packages working and I'm working on adding gear items behind the scenes.
- The website went live today, we'll be adding more in the run-up to the preview release.
- We're currently aware of Firewall, Argonauts and Zone Stalkers books coming out. To be honest, we're expecting nothing more than gear updates here, but I might be pleasantly surprised! All our data is read in from external data files, so we can issue an app update to add those.
- As for reporting bugs, support and UI feedback, we're still working on that, but we'll have something in place for the preview release.
- Random PC generation is in, at the moment it does a random walk through the packages. Characters can be saved to a custom .ep file format, and we're working on printable support too. We are going to be doing printable sleights sheets too, so asyncs don't have to flick back and forth through the source book!
We'll keep you updated! :)

Are you planning at some
Are you planning at some point to add the original character creation process? (Background/faction/skills instead of packages)

You, too, were made by humans. The methods used were just cruder, imprecise. I guess that explains a lot.

Have you extracted all the files? Attempting to run the app from the zip file might cause that error.

Yes, the files are fully extracted.
Just to be sure I redownloaded a second copy of the archive, in case the first was corrupted during transfer. No luck there either.

Had a thought
Seconds after that last post, I had the thought to try extracting the archive with WinRAR instead of Windows' built-in unzip.
For some reason, it now seems to work.

Rep bug?
Found a bug, maybe?
The Networker customization package sets one rep score to 100, but after locking it in the Character Generation tab shows an error; "The character's [rep name] (100) cannot be raised above 80".
EDIT: This is more of a documentation thing, but why does the generation tab want me to "swap an active skill for a Knowledge skill" after I've selected 10PP worth of packages?

Couple of things
First off, awesome program. I like the normal character generation for PCs, but for NPC's this is awesome!
Couple of things...
1) Are you eventually going to add Implant options to the Morphs?
2) Is there a way to edit the Gear lists?
3) Can you include a character sheet option that lists the basic game effect of gear/implants/traits?
Like:
Math Boost: Instantly perform math problems. Apply a +30 mod on tests involving math calculations.
4) Same with weapons/armor.... Basic damage or AV would be nice if possible :)
Thanks!

Replies!
Not a bug - those are the rules for character generation. That package should really give you, say, +50 to two networks, but it doesn't.
It's following the rules as laid out in Transhuman - maybe you had a customisation package that requires you to do that.
Yes, you'll be able to edit morphs and create custom morphs.
There will be shortly.
You can do this if you want to print out the character - that's one of the print options. I'll look into making this a main-screen option.
Yeah we can add that! No problem.

Socially Graceless
The negative trait Socially Graceless costs 10CP, rather than -10CP.
EDIT: Seems it's not just that one. I went through the negative traits list as far as the I's - every negative trait from Transhuman costs CP, rather than gives bonus.
Near as I can tell, negative traits from other sourcebooks work correctly.

Life got a bit in the way I'm
Life got a bit in the way I'm afraid (new job...), but we have fixed most of the bugs reported by users and I'm working towards putting together a new preview build soon. I'd like to give the Morph Recognition Guide a once-over before the next preview, to make sure we're consistent with that.

Data files
FWIW I don't believe the Morph Recognition Guide has any brand-new content, it's just a compilation of all the morphs that have been published so far. If Agency has morphs from every sourcebook, updated to reflect errata, then there shouldn't be anything that needs changing.
As for the other thing - I hand-edited a copy of traits.json to have the correct negative trait CP values. With your permission, I'd like to make it available for other users to download via Google drive. I realize that the trait CP values are something you've probably already corrected, but I'm sure there are users out there who would appreciate even this small correction to tide them over till the next official build.
Can the current public build read equipment and augments from a data file? If so, I'd be more than happy to lend a hand typing up gear.

I'll make a new preview build
I'll make a new preview build (just containing our bugfixes) and post back with a link. I think for now I'll turn off random character generation and fix it properly for the preview after the next preview.
We haven't yet added the functionality to read in gear from an external file (mainly because I'm wrangling over the exact structure of the data we expect). I have all the of the gear accessible in CSV form (I basically took the files from http://itsmax.net/pub/EclipsePhase/data/ and have modified it to add stuff added since their last update), I just need to go through and convert it.

Compatibility report
I can almost run this on Wine/Mono on Linux - except for this error, which apparently has something to do with setting file associations in the registry:
[ERROR] FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
at Utils.RegistryHelper.SetAssociation (System.String extension, System.String description, System.String executable) [0x00000] in :0
at Agency.Program.Main (System.String[] args) [0x00000] in :0
I'd really appreciate a way to turn that off with a config switch in a text file or something. Or you can send me a debug version so I can send you more detailed troubleshooting information. I know you're not maintaining it for non-Windows systems, but this is important enough to me that I am willing to do the legwork. Thanks in advance!

Variable CP
If you are still working on this, it would be nice to be able to adjust the starting CP for a character.
