Page Backgrounds
I'm working on an EP adventure and I wanted to use the proper EP background, but I can't find it anywhere. I've got all the hack packs, but I was surprised that this was not included. Is this available somewhere - I know A.W. Daberton used it for his Chain Reaction trilogy (great work btw) so I'm hoping this means that they are out there somewhere and I just can't find them.

Thanks! I used pdfimages to extract the backgrounds from the pdf files. If you want, I can email them to you, just send me an email (my address is on the back page of my adventures). The files are about 11 mb together if I remember correctly. However, the left page background needs to be cropped to match the pages in the book and unfortunately I apparently never wrote down the exact dimensions. Sorry.

That is very nice of you. I will email you. I know my way around image editing and open office so I'm not worried about the dimensions and your formatting guide is a great way to get everything formatted to EP standard quickly so thanks for that too. However, I am curious about your approach to insert the background image in libre office. I was never able to get full page backgrounds in open/libre office when using margins. The background will just stop at the margins. I know two ways around this which I've used for my books in the past, but they are both workarounds, so perhaps you know a better way to do it? Workaround 1) Insert as an image in the header (or footer) and set it to be shown in the background. This works pretty well, but it can cause flickering when turning pages as the image loads (especially on tablets and low-end devices) and so doesn't look as smooth as using a background image. Workaround 2) Use background image, but remove all margins and instead place all text in frames that handle the margins. The result is great, but editing is a real pain as text doesn't wrap across pages anymore, and any rewrites and changes to formatting become a real pain.

Re: Page Backgrounds
Images emailed. I can't really help you with inserting the backgrounds: the way I do the backgrounds is to build a group in Open Office Draw (with the background, the page numbers, etc.) and then insert it into the Open Office Write program and send it to the background. This naturally makes it very, very slow to load and difficult to edit.
