The core book says that raw materials are generally easy to acquire, as most fabbers are equipped with disassembler units that break down anything into its constituent molecules. My question is what about rare metals? One of my characters now has a small amount of gold, palladium, iridium, and platinum. What would be the value of these metals to a Barsoomian with a hacked fabber, for example? Any ideas?

Gold, FWIW, is likely very common amongst the asteroids of the main belt (and, honestly, there's a pretty good chance the Kuiper Belt has its fair share of gold-rich asteroids as well) but as the farcastblog entry posits, it's more likely to be used as ballast than as anything actually useful: http://www.farcastblog.com/2013/10/298-gold-ballast.html
That said, there's a pretty good section in Transhuman about this. Have you given it a look? It might give you some ideas.

Precious metals are good for
Precious metals are good for circuitry, however most schematics are likely to have versions that just use CHON.
This cracked article talks about graphene. Graphene is pretty much the load bearing tech for much of the EP nanofabbing system.

Thanks for the information.
Thanks for the information. My players were hoping to be able to barter the metals for some equipment they didn't have access to, but guess they will have to rethink that.
