Thx for info ;-) I use LibreOffice and Linux, but I cannot edit the files, so I created wiki: http://ep-pl.wikidot.com/start I have translated only 1/4 of QuickRules ("Streszczenie zasad") and I don't know if I will be able to fast translate into Polish, due to my IETLS exam in May (I should mainly work on my writing and listening, not reading :-P) so progress can be slooow. But there is good thing about the wiki format - wikilinks between different books and hide/seek encrypted emails! :-D [I also considered both OurProject and Wikia.com, but wikidot is the best for my purposes :-P]

Italian translation

Ciao Chris. Did you translated something else in Italian? I am an Italian native speaker. I translated the equipment, background, faction, morph and some other stuff. I did it for some fast pdf to give to my player, so what I did is not 100% compliant :-) Actually, on a blog I created, I'm traslating and posting some of the EP material in Italian. It's a BIG job to translate everything but I am ready to do it if there is (or there will be) a team to work with. I had fun creating new Italian words to translate EP neologisms :-D Ciao Luca

Polish Official Translation?

Dear Phasers. I hame question about official polish translation. I know you have some kind of "lawpaper" with the prospective publisher. Does this bill make impossible to translate EP by group of internet-connected people, not connected to any particular law-entity? I ask, because I do not fully trust the guys. They translated Eclipse Phase as "Faza Zaćmienia", which is pretty dumb and covers only the most literaly translation (as a phase of moon). They also "will publish something on progress at the beginning of 2013 year". YEAH, they did. I am just not sure about it. As you know, I tried to translate, but it was so much to do and alone I was unable. Month or two ago I discovered Facebook (I just know what is the "Networking" skill :-D) and I wonder if I would gather some people and translate EP openly... [We, Poles, have some kind of French linguistic sensitivity - what's worst, we have also a tradition of messed up translations with "funny" terms. I am afraid that if Galmadrin will do the book, we will always be bond to use "funny" terms... and in term of EP I would prefer the biggest quality]

Kaworu: All of the licensing

Kaworu: All of the licensing contracts we sign with foreign language publishers require them to release the translation under a Creative Commons license, just as we do. There is nothing preventing a group of fans from doing their own net-based translation project. That said, have you tried getting in touch with Galmadrin and letting them know your concerns, perhaps offer to help out with the translation? We don't have any control over their translation process, and since we don't speak Polish ourselves we don't have a great way to really vet the translation work, but the publisher may be open to feedback. I know some French fans were unhappy with some of the terms that were produced when Black Book first translated EP into French, but BB listened and reworked the translation and everyone came out a bit happier. I'm sure translating a book like EP, with a lot of jargon and scientific terminology, is not an easy project.

Yes, I suppose you are right, it's not easy project. Yet, my concerns about Polish name are shared by almost everyone who is interested in EP. I saw Polish logo of EP, so they treat the name seriously. I send them one email today, but I have to say, there is little transparency in what they are doing. During last 4 months they were concentrated on Cthulhu Gaslight and do not published any new piece of info (even if they promised). I am afraid they gonna translate the title the way they do. Also, there is no information on who is the translator and how particular terms are translated. We had some publishers who consulted community in the matter, but this time people know nothing. [I have heard a rumor and jokes that they wanna people to translate for them, but they were not gonna share profits with them and imagined they would be doing some kind of voluntary job... I do not know if it's true, but the atmosphere around the firm is one of doubt and irony. I have a little forum thought-exchange with some guys and everyone was like „go ahead, do not bother yourself with Galmadrin” - I think this is a good example of thrust put in the publisher by community] Oh, by the way – they have „we'll publish soon” section on their page, there are two logos, but no EP logo, which also makes situation ambiguous. Don't any of you know something about progress in Polish translation, because we were promised to know more in... January?

Long story short: - I send them an email, but nobody would write me back because nobody was in office - They faster answered to me on third-party forum bacause of coincidence and I took it as some kind of disrespect - What's worst, my privacy settings made it for them impossible to answer me as fast as they would like even on the forum, so after 5 attempts they send me only very short message, which I again took as disrespect - It seems they really are open to comments, just had some other project recently I'm just a big fool with hot head and aching tooth. Shame, huh?

Polish character sheet, terminology & hacking cheat sheet

Hey there everyone, there is an official Polish translation coming from Galmadrin, but I'm a hot-head and I can't wait to play EP in my native tongue; therefore, I created a few helps: a Polish character sheet (based on the one core rulebook one, b&w, a bit modified rep section to be more clear for my *Polish* players), basic terminology from the core rulebook translated into Polish AND the hacking cheat sheet created by Voidstate (kudos for letting me post it here). The official Polish translation project

It seems that the official project to translate the game into Polish by Galmadrin is pretty much dead, so we are back to the drawing board. I am willing to do some of the work on behalf of the fanbase, and I have already translated the Character Sheet using the InDesign files provided in the resources page; still, are there any IDD files available for the Quick Start Rules set, or any other way to edit the actual files? Is it possible to obtain those? Everything without compromising the CC license, obviously.

PDF editing softwares

Hello zombiak, I have translated EP QSR into simplified Chinese and I am currently working on a revised version (adding a glossary, fixing some typos, stuffs like that). When creating the translated PDF, I use Scribus most of the time and GIMP occasionally, both of which are open source software. As for the portraits, landscapes and background pictures, Sumatra PDF in Windows and Okular in Linux can pick out and save them for you. Hope that helps you!

Simplified Chinese QSR Updated!

A new English-Chinese glossary is added at the end of the book.

'Agonizer Pistol' is translated into '苦痛者手枪', instead of '深思者手枪', which is not correct.

Polish EP wiki

Hello and cześć, I started a project to translate the essential portions of EP sourcebooks into Polish. It is located at http://eclipse.forseti.pl . I chose the form of wiki because it allows ease of editing and interconnecting the articles. By "essential portions" I mean the ones that allow new player to get a grasp on the setting, understand it. Also I intend to use it as a reference to my campaigns ("I ask my Muse" = "search the wiki") so there will be morph and gear listing for example. Also I'm introducing non-canon elements into EP universum - mainly from Jacek Dukaj's books, "Takeshi Kovacs" trilogy by Richard Morgan and "GURPS Transhuman Space". That elements are clearly marked as non-canon, it's impossible to confuse it with canon material (just check http://goo.gl/tbtpyu in contrast to home page) As for translation, I've seen Zombiak's work and it influenced my translation. However in many cases I deviated from it, devised my own translations based on literature I know and vocabulary that woud elicit correct feeling about the world. Examples: "Barsoomians" => "Fremeni" ("Fremens") - in Poland the "Princess of Mars" is little known and I expect it would stay that way. However "Dune" is quite known and so "Fremens" carry much more meaning than "Barsoomians" "Clanking masses" => "Szmelcen-proletariat" ("Junken-proletariat") - in Polish all my attempts to gracefully translate into believable phrase failed - either it was too long, too complicated or just sounds strange (too much nasals). So I used something connected with a junk and class of poor laborers that also reminds of "lumpenproletariat". Informal would be "zlomasy" ("scrap-masses", but also very similar to a Polish swear word) "Flat" => "StaHS/Normals" - the former is from "Perfect Imperfection" by Jacek Dukaj, stands for "standard Homo Sapiens" and denotes humans clinging to bodily form (in contrast to PHoeBes, post-human beings). I know that it's formal, so I expect that colloquially something like "normalsi" ("normals", common calque from English but "normalny" is common Polish word) would be used. I'm writing about translation to give you impression on how I deviate from original and ask for your opinion on such practices. Is it OK to do so or is it just too much creativity on my side? Can I do such thing under CC license?

Currently, I have a small problem - in the table for ammunition in the gear chapter there is an abbreviation AV ("AV doubled" in AP [armor penetration] section). What does AV stands for? Hi folks! Just informing you

Hi folks! Just informing you on the progress of my translation. So far I translated the whole of QSR (yaaaaay!) and EP mainbook chapters on skills, gear and character creation. This is an upside. Downside: I am no longer publishing the translation on Polter.pl. Since end of 2016 I created 5 pieces of translations for them and no one of them was published to this day. I was always willing to wait one month for semi-professional edition they gave me for free, but it is simply too much. The last part of QSR (only the character sheets - it was really short) was there for a month and still no publication - even though the head of RPG section asked for swift works. So yeah... [Also, Polter is a dying portal and does not have as many users as it used to - and most of them are meanies and trolls. It's better for my mental health if I am not there.] So what's now? I will wait some month until I will get my economic rent from ZUS (I am a disabled person) and then I will buy a new laptop. Currently, I have a PC with Linux and LibreOffice, they have hidden some options, others I simply cannot use. With Win/MS Office I should be able to create quite easy a nice-looking PDF and publish it on my GoogleDrive so people could download it. So, in short, my translation of QSR should be up in the next 2-3 months. Till that time I will try to translate more mainbook and gather all my translations in one file - currently, they are cut into pieces according to Polter publications.

En cual de ambos modulos y en que mapa concreto? Si me lo especificas lo reviso y corrijo. Dices que el error ya estaba en el original? no lo habia detectado, gracias! Saludos Por cierto, tu español es bastante aceptable... ;)
