Nonstandard Muses
Are there any rules for building nonstandard Muses, or has anyone reverse engineered the standard Muse skillsets to figure out the point buy for them? I know my players'll want to make custom Muses, and I haven't seen anything about this anywhere.

not exactly sure. right now
not exactly sure. right now it feels like there is a pretty hard gap between a muse and a full agi/fork

Got a question for you CodeBreaker: what would the cost in CP/credits be at character creation for each Muse category displayed here, based on how you've worked this out? (the reason for my confusion is that I don't know if this is just for figuring out costs during play, based on my read of the thread you linked)

Fork as Muse
I know this gets asked a lot, and I am sure I have seen the answer somewhere, but what are the rules regarding forks and muses? You can't use an Alpha fork as a muse, right? So it can be at best a Beta or Delta? (Gamma's are the vapors that are all screwy and nonfunctional, ja?)
Exhuman, and Humanitarian.

Keeping in mind that I wrote that five years ago (fuck me...); Ignore the first post. My second post is the one that matters. If you look at all of the AI from the Core rulebook, each has a CP total determined by their Credit Cost. The Standard Muse on pg. 332 has a cost of [High], and when you add up all its skills and aptitudes it comes out to 300CP. The Kaos AI, on the other hand, has a cost of [Expensive], and when you add up all its skills and aptitudes it comes out to 400CP. So say you want to build your own Muse. You want to spend [Expensive] on it. You have 400CP to spend, all aptitudes start at 10, and the limits I posted above apply. If, instead, you only wanted to spend [Moderate] on your custom Muse, you would only have 150CP to spend. You dig?

The rule book is intentionally vague on the subject for a siple reason: It is up to the GM to determine the laws or customs of a habitat or settlement. Hyper corps like PC will not allow alpha forks or probably even betas as muses with the exception of the ceo because he makes the rules :P personally i would not even like a delta in my own head. would feel to much like having multiple personality disorder.

CodeBreaker
CodeBreaker: Reverse engineering the standard [High] cost AI, I seem to have gotten 420 CP for the skills alone, and if you raised INT to 20 from 10, it'd be 520 CP. Am I doing the math wrong? Edit: Oh, and the Kaos AI seem to work out (with the double-cost CP from 60 to 80 for Profession: Security System and the 10 points up to 20 REF) to 450 CP...? Huh. Looks like Muses, which are less expensive than Kaos AI, have more CP pumped into 'em. I guess it has to do with the specialized function they fill in society? *scratches head* Maybe new categories could be [Moderate] = 260 CP, [High] = 520 CP and [Expensive] = 780 CP?

pg 136/137 in Transhuman talks about how AGI can pass as someone's muse in various principalities due to all the special laws Muses have surrounding them, actually. Muses are serious business in Eclipse Phase. You don't mess around with them. Really, there's nothing stopping someone from having an Alpha Fork as a muse is the GM's say-so.
