Monopoly Violence
I've made this organization as the driving force behind a pbp campaign I'm starting up. Any sort of commentary or criticism is very welcome :) >>>>[@-NET OPEN POSTING]<<<< >>>>[#joblisting #security #intelligence #counterintelligence #freedomfighter]<<<< >>>>[ATTACHMENT #logo MESHLOC ]<<<< MONOPOLY VIOLENCE [img]http://shop.labartgallery.com/files/2012/12/raging-monopoly-450x420.jpg[... Security contractors, mercenaries, rent-a-spies, terrorists, smugglers, pimps, drug dealers, freedom fighters. Monopoly Violence has been called many things, and it is all true. Founded on a firm belief that the non-aggression principle and voluntary agreements and nothing else should govern human interaction, Monopoly Violence has made a business and a charity out of those principles so often breaking down. If you're an operator looking for adventure, profit, reputation and/or the chance to spread freedom, apply for a position in Monopoly Violence now! AUTONOMIST OPERATIONS "Making sure the game is played by your rules." Monopoly Violence byline In the outer system, Monopoly Violence is a security contractor and provider of intelligence and counterintelligence services, both for credits and rep. In the asteroid belt and around Jupiter we also provide diplomatic services and deterence contracts backed by military spacecraft. We're always looking to expand our network of freelancers with analysts, fighters, researchers, spies and hackers. Not a spy? You might be surprised how closely your skillset matches actual spies - send you application now! REGIME OPERATIONS "Social contract? We didn't sign shit." Monopoly Violence press statement (in its entirety) following allegations by Planetary Consortium of involvement in hypercorp tax evasion scheme. The inner system has several business avenues where governments use their dominant police and security forces to shield so-called criminal organizations from competition from mainstream hypercorps. Much like monopolies these avenues are highly profitable, even when you consider the extremely hostile business environment you have to operate in. Fortunately Monopoly Violence has exactly the sort of counterintelligence capabilities needed for that. Our ethical charter keeps up from operating in areas like ego trading, but we have a significant stake (directly, as joint ventures or as consultants) in inner system drug trade, blue print distribution, high interest microfinancing, prostitution, fabber jailbreaking, money laundering, and weapons smuggling. In some cases we are at a handicap compared to criminals who don't always respect agreements and are free to commit wanton violence, in other cases we benefit from their our accountability and ability to provide contracts and guarantees that can be claimed at Extropian courts (for example Monopoly Violence microfinancing contracts allow lenders to opt out of bodily harm default clauses against a higher interest, which some prefer over standard loan shark terms). While our non-agression principle puts restraint on initiating use of force, we are of course under no obligation to pull our blows when defending ourselves, our clients or property, which make overtly hostile gangs, police officers and tax collectors fair game. If you're considering a counterintelligence career in Monopoly Violence we require that our senior officers have been posted in the inner system. Having hands on experience with the level of tradecraft needed to evade the Planetary Consortium on their own turf is considered invaluable and the primary source of our organisation's excellence in counterintelligence. For reasons of operational security, entry level hiring for regime operations is handled by individual cells. FREEDOM PHILANTROPY "I'm just not content for us to sit out here in our free societies and feel good about ourselves because we bring some people back from cold storage. There are hundreds of millions of living people suffering under oppression right now. The effort to free them from the shackles of government is the real frontier of the autonomist cause, and no matter how evil some autonomists think money is, fighting that fight costs money. Lots of money. Capitalists gave humanity wealth, and now we're going to give humanity freedom." Lars Andersen, Monopoly Violence founder and majority shareholder No mention of Monopoly Violence is complete without also mentioning the Furious Angels. While Lars Andersen is certainly a businessman, he is also a major force in the freedom philantropy movement and donates most of his dividends to the cause. He set up the Furious Angels Foundation, which sponsors intelligence and paramilitary operations against oppressors wherever they are found. FAF is concerned with efficient use of its funds and for this reason they often hire Monopoly Violence for operations that are designed to leverage existing MV ventures, such as running assets in the security forces and judicial system to protect local resistance fighters in areas where MV is also involved in illegal fabbing and smuggling. Furious Angels can then sell or rent their assets back to Monopoly Violence and recover much or all of their investment and sponsor even more operations. Furious Angels also give both financial and operational support to open source intelligence operations such as dissident blogs and investigative journalism. >>>>[EOP]<<<<

Sounds like my kind of gig.
As my (as of yet theoretical) character is focused on martial arts and self marketing as a "champion for hire" this is exactly the kind of business venture he would at least have frequent contact with, if not directly work for.
Your passion is power. Focus it. Your body is a tool. Hone it. Transhummanity is a pantheon. Exalt it!

Sounds definitely like one of the security companies out of Extropia. It doesn't strike me as a law-corp, since it just runs on whatever contracts are signed; no doubt it has a law spin-off just for formal reasons, but Monopoly Law doesn't enforce any laws beyond non-initiation of aggression and pacta sunt servanda.

I agree. It isn't a company that does everything - it has core competencies in intelligence and security operations, and it looks for areas where it can do business with that. In the outer system they're pretty vanilla, but in the inner system, that's victimless crime (with the added twist of protecting people from government oppression like regulation and tax). My inspiration came from prominent ancaps like Larken Rose, Silk Road, Blackwater, the crime empires of former KGB agents, and what Peter Diamondis calls technophilantropists (entrepeneurs who set up businesses in the third world that both make money and improve the lives of poor people).
