Mahogany doors?
Perhaps I am just greedy, but I would like to know what various GMs have done with the habitat Mahogany in this setting. When I read in the core book that there was a city of bird people, I found the idea interesting but I had no idea what to do with it. I had hoped that Rimward would cover it more, but the summary in Rimward only says, "Wow, there sure a lot of Neo-Avians here". Panopticon had little about it either. Perhaps it's the whole anthropic principle thing, but the culture and commerce of a non-human society is actually pretty damn interesting. What the hell is going on in that tiny forest in the middle of nowhere?

Well it's Human, right? They're just furries. ...[Editing in here: I thought avian uplifts were in the "smart pet" category, and neo-avians were actually just fancy biomorphs that anyone could sleeve. If not, even more question arise around status between legit uplifts and cosplayers]... They probably have a bunch if indentures that they sleeve into mentally and physically handicapped homunculus morphs and use them to change the newspapers that must line their Hab. :) Their culture probably has some unique customs, but I would imagine that their industry and commerce would be no different from any other. Wierd questions come up though: Do they rely on robotic automata for all physical work? Do the guys in morphs with limbs capable of fine physical manipulation trade status and credibility amongst their digitless peers for the ability to be employed performing useful physical tasks? If it was my game, I'd do the newspaper golem thing. But I tend to pitch to the cheap seats.

It's definitely a cool idea.
It's definitely a cool idea. It really does do a good job of blending the line between an uplifted pet and a real, actual human can be.

I had an idea of a plot on the Atlantica habitat, but it has to wait until my next campaign. I thought it to be a very cool place, similar to Mahogany as you mentioned. For the smaller places in the system you probably have to come up with a lot of information yourself, as there are not much detail about them.

No, 3 species of bird where fully uplifted. Parets, ravens and crows.

I don't think we mention this
I don't think we mention this explicitly anywhere, but I think of Mahogany as being parrot-dominated. If you're a corvid, the social mecca is the Rookery on Locus. Left to their own devices, the psittacine and corvid cultures could well grow to be as different as humans & either of the two. While comparable in size, strength, etc., the pre-uplift ancestors of neo-ravens & neo-parrots resulted from very different natural surroundings, and their bodies are adapted for very different ecological niches.

Now I'm picturing the local hangout on Mahogany being a giant cliff face where all the parrots pick precious mineral supplements off of the walls.

Given the diet of parrots
Given the diet of parrots there's a whole different definition to "seedy" restaurant! :) Of course, now I want to actually make a place ! Topiary- a popular restaurant on Mahogany, catering exclusively to neo-psittacine clientele. An assortment of exotic seeds, nuts and fruits are available, prepared by specialist chefs and delivered by hyper-gibbon wait staff to the discerning palates of the consumers. The restaurant itself is situated high above the floor of the colony. Archaic tree shaping techniques form perches and tables from the boughs of the tree itself for maximum comfort during a meal.
