Dreamscapes and the Mesh/XP
Is there any overlap or utilization of the dreamstate/dreams by transhumanity in Eclipse Phase?

Re: Dreamscapes and the Mesh/XP
What about dream-sharing? There is XP, and certainly some people find enjoyment in experiencing other people's dreams - either when "awake" or running as relaxation while sleeping: "I tend to run the Deltema Opennight suite of dream-XPs while sleeping. Not full-strength like I entertainment and training XPs I use during the day, but just at 20% neural gain. That's enough to cause cortical entrainment - I dream more or less the same dream, but with my own associations. Yes, the Deltema dreams are pretty insipid - tropical islands, old-fashioned dinners, nature hikes - but they are far better than my unconstrained dreams." Other people might run shared dreamscapes via the Mesh. Some might do lucid dreaming, but many are pretty happy to let their unconscious run free in a somewhat controlled shared simspace. Some people build subconscious friendships while participating in the same dreamscapes. Dreamspace companies maintain the simspace and keep the dreamers from making a mess or having a too bad experience. High quality dreamscapes like Rose Structure on Mars have high entrance fees, but allow you to dream together with the rich and glamorous. The maintainers ensure high quality rest and creativity, can provide psychological assistance - and make sure lucid dreaming paparazzi can't get in and spy.

Hm, specially terrible if you combine it with Petals. Still, I'm not sure it would be possible. At least in theory, sleep is the time during which the mind recombines the experiences of the day, organizes knowledge and experiences things it would wish to experiment. If you force certain dreams, that would not be done, and the brain would work badly.

I can imagine public health officials warning people not to use narcoalgorithms, XP or nanodrugs for excessive sleep enhancement, since it impairs their memory consolidation. It might both make it less effective and introduce false memories by mixing the dreams with the input. "I ran the Gistre 45 petal during last week's sleep shifts. Now my memories of the tournament clearly involve some monsters from the petal; I have a vivid memory of how Jansen received his prize from the Tenebrator XI boss monster. The 100m swimming was definitely won by the Cat-Flower from Mars, and I *know* the fencing team all were eaten by grues. Which is a bit embarrassing whenever I meet them..."

Saw the movie Inception yesterday. Great EP material in regards to this thread! Inception has loads of good ideas for simscapes and mental manipulation. The time differentials also nicely mirror the 60x infomorph speed issue. I can imagine many scarred Fall survivors retreating into fast-running Limbo sims where they can be "safe".
