Hello I just read in Sunward (p. 52) that there is no ozone layer in the earth atmosphere anymore. A short while ago I read that the ozone in the stratosphere absorbs UV radiation. This absorption results in an inversion layer and this inversion layer is actually the stratosphere.
Could you imagine what the consequences might be, if there was no stratosphere anymore?
Here I am just talking about the stratosphere. Not about nuclear winter, nano weather machines and the like.
My (un?)educated guess:
Warm air rises higher in the atmosphere. -> Global wind systems change resulting in unpredictable climate change.
The warm air reaching higher altitudes results in an enhanced radiation from the atmosphere into space. -> The planet cools down.
Unfiltered UV radiation reaches the surface making life a lot harder. Only organisms with sufficient UV protection can survive. Possible protection mechanisms: Beeing under a protective layer of water, ice, sand etc. Having a protective layer build in, like: thick hide, wax coating etc.

First ask wiki?
Did a little search and found this Ozone depletion and this Effectsof ozone depletion?. Next time I will try to switch the order of first asking here and then ask google.
If you got any further ideas on this nontheless, I would still be glad to hear your opinion.

Yeah, I try to do my own research before asking questions. I think it makes you look less silly (and less lazy) when it sounds like you tried to do your own homework before asking for help.

On the plus side this topic
On the plus side this topic did call this passage in Sunward to my attention. Apparently I completely over looked it.

Lack of ozone will make the
Lack of ozone will make the twilight sky greyer and yellower - a lot of the really deep blue is reflected from ozone. So no "blue hour" but rather a grey dusk.
