IDEA: Mediawiki extension/s
Hello All, I had an idea that I thought I would share. Now Ive never done anything with Mediwiki plugins but this seems to be something that should be relatively easy, considering the plugins that have been done that Ive seen. If the GM had his laptop then he could instal mediwikia and "The" extension and be able to create a wiki page (shareable on his local wifi network and thus to others with obiles, laptops, tablets, etc for a game session. The GM would login in with his credentials and see a list of the users (aka Sentinels) on the sidebar, with an access level. Example. all users would have a default rep rating of 1-10 and thus be able to see everything at that level (ie entrance protocols for Luna, Mars, or whatever habitats they are near, etc). If the player made a rep role, then the GM could change the rating to whatever he got ie Networking Rep roll of 43 with a skill of 46, so we enters 43 for that users rep and then the user can then browse the mediawiki site looking for details that the GM has allowed. Of course this means several things: - that each page has a security rating at which level the page is viewable (ie the min rep required) - that the link has a security rating - if the user doesnt have a rating of this or greater then the link doesnt appear - maybe replaced with "censored", instead? I see two extensions required: - one for the users security, which may already exist - we assign a security rating to users, not a simple user, admin level. - a second for the page and/or link itself Does anyone know if this exists, or have the knowledge to create this/these extensions? Regards Jason Brisbane PS: what issues would be visable here? Users would be able to browse pages that are not relevant to the current mission, but these might be good to leave in as red herrings... It would also be good to have tables with security so one page could have sections with the rep 10 info, then a secure networking 40+ section and a netwporking 80+ section (or any other score thats in between).

I did find this...
I did find this.. http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:PageSecurity It implements page security based upon groups. So you can have a group standard and several other groups, based upon information that the user who succeeds in a Networking roll might gain access to. But this requires the gm/ wiki updater to create many pages and control the groups for each page. Then update the users access during the program. The last one is ok (its what I envisioned) and with the UserRightsList extension it might even be easy... Any one else played with ideas?
