Conditional formatting
I don't know if I can trim it down. But I will look into it for the next sheet. I've all ready had to move to the xlsx format because the file sizes were bloating and the iferror function so terribly useful. Right now I'm working on weapons.

That is fine. Don't worry about it to much if you can't. Just keep it in mind for the new version. It will make it more compatible with other office suites if you go lightly (but these suites are also free, so you can test it if you want).

Survival Belt
I've just noticed that my favourite piece of gear is missing from the gear section. I can't survive without my survival belt (Gatecrashing, p.159 )!
kindalas kindalas's picture
That piece of gear is extra complex.

The problem with the survival belt is that it is a piece of gear that makes other pieces of gear appear in the inventory for "free" making it hugely complex to include in Excel. This is also the reason why the implant "Implant Masking" p148 in Panopticon has yet to be included.

Is there any chance you can make a version with minimal conditional formatting?

What I am working on now.
Currently I have a list of things to do before the next update. My list of done things: Redesign Armor Redesign the Skills Sheet Fixed some Morphs buyable issues. Update the gear descriptions. My to do list includes: Redesign Guns/Weapons to match the new Armor thing. Put Custom Morphs, Backgrounds and Factions Back in. Maybe Redesign how the Morphs buyable works. Change the base colours. Skillsoft fiddling to work with the new Skills Sheet Redo Muse and AI sheet. Move Muse/AI to Morph Sheet Implement Fork Status on morph sheet. Maybe fiddle with the PSI system. Maybe Redesign the Printable Sheet (And Flat Sheet) so you can choose which combination of morphs you want printed/exported as PDFS. And Make a Powepoint Howto Guide on a)Preparing the Sheet as a GM and B) making a character. What I'm looking for now is feedback and ideas on the above things so I can hopefully preempt the need for a 0.97 Sheet right after 0.96 is released. William

Some kind of identifier for
Some kind of identifier for morphs wouldn't hurt. Something that we can remembers. So instead of Morph 1, we can put "Venus Exalt" instead. So when we select it we don't have to think, "Was Morph 1 the exalt on Venus or Mars..?" Also I notice Morphs can 'seemingly' only be bought with CP. Perhaps allow a way to buy them for credits. The Morph Sheet last I saw was already pretty big. Perhaps having separate Morph tabs (and add them dynamically) would be more ideal, but I am not sure how possible that would be. I think that Muses tend to travel with the player from place to place, rather then being limited to a single morph. but such things are possible. To have a separate muse in each place. So its a bit complicated.

Um I don't know if this helps
Um I don't know if this helps (probably too late) but here's a list of the changes I've made on most versions of the sheet. These arent' requests just trying to give you some idea of how I use your work. I put a favor used/refresh table on the third colum of the skills In game calendar date. Because tracking favor refresh is important I make a place to record the current date, in game time, on the character sheet. We use a day-of-year calendar ie; AF10:71. This also helps keep backups organized when we archive a character sheet at a backup point. I put an AI/bot form on the third column of the skills sheet and usually make a 4th page for more AI's, bots and shells cause everyone seems to have several. I add extra columns for current armor values cause that changes alot depending on what my characters are wearing and I'd rather just have that available on the sheet without having to select it on the gear page. (I think you might have this one covered already) I add a place to deduct expenses on the gear sheet I kicked the Rep names in the character sheet all the way to the left and set the two spare columns up to auto paste the rep from secondary identities off the Ego sheet I reactivate the custom morphs and backgrounds cause i use those in my campaign. (I've never figured out how to make morphs exclusive to backgrounds and vice versa) I've tried adding a fillable column to the weapons sheet that would allow a write-in for specializations that would automatically add a "skill rate (+10)" but that just screws stuff up and makes everything else not work. Because I always forget to add a bonus to skill tests for implants that a character has, I write all the potential modifications in the next column to the right on the skills sheet. For instance: Perception; Enhanced Vison +20, Persuasion; Tailored Pheremones +10 That way I know when the sheet is adding and when it's not and where the bonus is coming from. Usually when the sheet doesn't add a gear bonus to the skill because the bonus is situational I'll just add it in manually, then on the character sheet when a skill rank has been changed by a situational gear bonus I bold the number and change the text color to red. Also I've come up with my own custom traits but have had a hard time figuring out how to add them to the ego and morph sheets. I tried to add them at the end of the traits list but that didn't work so I generally just use the addiction slots and set the DUR modification to zero. It would be nice to be able to write in some traits at the end of the lists and have them be calculated in the totals and noted on the character sheet. (so I guess that one is a request :) I guess this one is another request. Hardening. I'd love to have a way to track Hardening due to successful stress checks. That's one of the things I use addiction trait slots for on the ego sheet but I havn't figured out how to make it effect moxy maximum. It would also be nice to be able to burn Rep somewhere on either the ego page or the setup page Final request: On the character sheet; could you set it up to trigger lights, sirens and an electric shock every time I absentmindedly type in a cell that contains an equation. I can't tell you how many times I've ruined my sheet by entering rep or moxie changes directly into the character sheet :D Thanks for all your work. Also, Most of my freinds, (who should know, because one is a chemist, and one is some type of webprogrammer, and one does something in finance), are pretty damned impressed with your Excel-Fu. This is not trivial work you have done. I've learned massive amounts of excel just trying to fix the stuff I break. Thanks :D

Character Sheet v.96
Second the Excel-Fu comment. I broke the sheet more than once myself, and learned a few new tricks in fixing my mistakes. Already send you a copy of my modified version of your awesome character sheet, before even looking at the forums. I am not sure that most of what I added would be necessarily embraced by everyone, but the two things that I think would increase the utility yet again are some place to note when the last ego back-up occurred (which I think has already been mentioned) and a place to record any disorders that the player characters might have acquired. Regarding the last ego back-up, I think there are three things that should have room to be recorded, a time and place of the back-up, and enough space to make a note of the last significant action that the ego can recall. Similarly to OneTrikPony, I feel a little like I am criticizing a french masterpiece because the colors clash with my wallpaper. Great Job, and Thanks.

Character Sheet v.96
I think I broke the ammo configuration part of the sheet. I select the weapon and the ammo in the fields above but then when I try to link the ammo to the weapon in the ammo selection box it says ERROR:520. All of my players have reported the same problem. Is this a known bug? Also, in the area where I think are supposed to be a list of the equipment (under the implants box) there's no list of equipment, just a single "\". Another bug? Or did I enter an "\" somewhere on accident?

Googling showed that you may have to save it as an .ods native file and re-open it. http://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=8221 P.S. Everyone, please try to remember to list your operating system (e.g. Windows 7 SP1 64bit ), and program used with version (LibreOffice 3.5.7.2). It'll make things more smooth for everyone. EDIT: FWIW LibreOffice 4.0.0.3 on Win7 SP1 64bit Spreadsheet v.95 on an already existing character doesn't show that error.

Go to D12 on the Morph Sheet and select whatever morph type you want. By default (oops) it was set as Synthmorph.

OpenOffice still exists, and is being developed, LibreOffice is technically a fork, not successor. On the other hand, I do agree that LibreOffice seems to be the better choice, and switching to it is a good idea.

Transhuman and the Singularity Character Generator
Well transhuman has just been released for the Kickstarter backers and for everyone else on the 7th and it was clear from the open playtest that all kinds of changes will be needed to update the Excel sheet. Right now I have two options. Build everything that relates to the original character generation system into the excel sheet and then release it as 0.96 Or build it in chunks, first morphs & gear, then new backgrounds & factions, then the weird morphs and then the bits and things at the end. The first option will probably take until the end of the month to do because 70-90% of the sheet needs to be changed in some way. The second option will probably take a week or two for each step since I'll have to make the sheet usable at every level. As for the packages and life path systems I think I will hold off on touching those and to let the Singularity Generator take care of them. Because while I am comfortable with making a supplement to a Posthuman Studios product I am not comfortable with duplicating one. Now if the new generator becomes a dream of pipes I'll step up but Adam, Brian and Rob are smart about who they give money to. So I don't expect that to happen at all. In fact, with no insider knowledge at all, I expect that the Singularity generator will end up being every kind of awesome with the kinds of features that I can only dream of. Like upgradable character files. Currently I'm considering the above two options. But if anyone has opinions share em here and I'll add them to my planning. William Wilson

Please continue your work, Kindalas. Our group has found your spread sheet most valuable. By the way, sometimes it's working painfully slow. Is it just my Libre Office or a general problem with big spread sheets?

Comparing performance between Libre, Open, 2007, 2010, it seems to indeed perform worse on Libre and Open, especially Open.

For the Skill selection? Just skip the dropdown and insert your own value in the custom column. I think. It's been a long time since I've used that version of the skill selector.

Sup.
Just stopping in to say this has been a huge help for a couple of online EP games I've played in, although the custom background editor is a touch temperamental* at the moment. *Trying to select any of the new factions results in getting the modifiers, skill selections, and description for one of the three core factions - usually Barsoomian (BG2), Hypercorp (BG3), or Argonaut (BG1). I've tried this with a completely freshly-downloaded copy of the sheet with only custom backgrounds on it too, same thing happens. Drop me a PM if you need help adding data, I have plenty of free time on my hands. Figure I might as well return the favour for how much time this has saved me and no doubt others in my groups. (As a sidenote, I'm guessing the other custom gear/etc. sections are unfinished? Being able to add more/custom weapons and have them actually display in the weapon sections/support mods/etc. would be really handy, I don't want to try just cramming stuff in at random and hoping it doesn't make the sheet break.) EDIT: Okay, I figured out why custom factions mostly break! It appears to be the alphabetical sorting. Names are correct, but it doesn't select the correct skill set or background description, like it's not figuring out the offset properly for/from the Values sheet.

sounds like a broken vlookup function. you have to be careful how you set them up if the list isn't sorted.

I'm still working on 0.96 the new gear factions background elodions morphs and implants have made a 90% rewrite of the sheet mandatory. So it is taking time. I'm currently hammering through the implants.

I'm using your character
I'm using your character sheet rather extensivly for our campaign. Awesome piece of work! Now, would it be possible to add checkboxes (or something else) to the sheet to assign equipment / morphs to a character without financial costs? I currently have to add enough credits after assigning stuff just to display the "correct" amount of money on the sheet. The same would be nice for reputation gain and loss. In my campaign, the PCs often get rewarded with small increases in reputation, they don't have to spend rez points on it.
"You're gonna carry that weight"
thezombiekat thezombiekat's picture
I have the same problem.
I have the same problem. My understanding is that making the sheet behave in that way would require the use of macros. Kindalas is avoiding those because they can carry viruses so many people do not enable them for downloaded documents. My solution has been for players to create another tab where they record current credits, the credits value on the rest of the sheet is ignored after character creation. They also record any additional schematics they get on that page (6 schematics is not nearly enough), items of irregular gear that don’t impact stats (2 tons of metallic meteorite, samples taken from weird corpses, the body of one of the discord gate multi mind ex-humans). For the rep I will actually have them write the amount of rep I award on the front sheet beside the res points awarded (including negative amounts if they lose rep). but it’s not worth it for credits because you have to change the “credits awarded” value every time they get payed, loose an item, take an item from an enemy purchase an item for a prise other than the average price for the cost category. Manufacture an item in their own nanofaber. Fires a gun (remove bullet from character sheet, don’t get the money back) the list goes on. I also can find no way to get a morph in play without paying CP for it (may have to manipulate res points when players acquire morphs in play).
Veyhar Veyhar's picture
What you could do,
What you could do, temporarily, is unhide the Data and Values sheets (in OpenOffice, this should be under Format -> Sheet -> Show...) and tweak the CP costs there. You can also set an item's cost to 'Morph' on the gear sheet and it'll not cost anything. Take in mind you have to be careful doing this because you could easily break stuff by messing around on those pages!
Veyhar Telkai. Just call me "V".
kindalas kindalas's picture
What I do
Is just figure out the CP cost of free things and then award rez accordingly. That way no matter what morphs the PCs have in play and storage I know where they are on the relative power scale compared to a starting PC.

Some Changes
I have made a couple changes to the sheet that some people may find useful. Mostly these changes benefit the most for people who bring there laptops to their RP session, but it can still be useful to those who don't. On the printable page of the workbook I have added a addictions monitor. This monitor displays the most recent "game day" in the RP, the most recent day that your character got his/her/its fix and depending on the addiction level, will tell you how long you have left of your current stash. It will tell you if you are all god with regards to the characters fix, of if your character is going through withdraw. Currently this monitor only works for drug addictions as without knowing every possible addiction out there to date and made it the easiest for me to test while programming if you will. I will continue to work on this and add more addictions for it to monitor. How does the workbook know current game dates and when your most recent fix was you may ask. Well I have also created a Mission Log in the workbook. It has 240 entry blocks for you to write down what happened most recently, if you gained or lost money, rez point gain/loss, I also made it so if you over spend on rez points, you go negative by how much rez you wend over by, and rep gain and loss. This one is interesting because it allows you to directly allocate to which group, if mandated by the GM, where those rep points go, however, when you specify which group it goes to, it gives all the rep to the group. This can be avoided by not specifying which group the rep goes to. The last thing that I believe everyone could benefit from, especially the GMs, is a combat page where damage to the morph, current state of the morph i.e. light damage, heavy damage, unconscious, death, etc. will be displayed, current status of armor, and possibly a changeable battle log if possible. Like I said, still under development. I am currently a computer science major in college so I will admit I somewhat know what I am doing, and I still have a lot of room to grow. If kindalas would like, I may send him what I have done so far and I would love to see what he thinks.

Kindalas - even if the Singularity generator is awesome...
I think you could take out the parts of the sheet that you select gear on and that generate the 3'rd gear page of the printable sheet. I made a flexbot(s) character using the package system in Transhuman, but still plugged the gear into your sheet just to print that page. It's dang useful for not having to constantly look at the book for, "what the heck does that do?" Also handy because the fellow that helped you was kind enough to include page numbers.

Morph Traits
Currently when you purchase a morph with a trait the sheet is set up to just make those traits cost zero points. So the trait won't show up unless you "purchase" it. The next version of the sheet is more emplicit about how morph and ego traits work.

Hey! haven't heard anything about the transhuman update for your awesome spreadsheet generator (which taught me the game!). Just wanting to be 'that guy' and ask about any updates? Anyways, thanks for making it and excitedly waiting for an updated version!
