Can't I just GIVE you my money?
Hopefully this is the right forum for this! I'd like to start off by saying that I'm a huge fan of both the game and the community. To that end I'd like to ensure that the game prospers and more materials/books get written and published. This is especially true given the open distribution of the materials and the use of the creative commons license. Having said all that: isn't there a way that I can GIVE Posthuman studios my money? I'll clarify, while I'm aware that I could support them buy buying the books via DriveThru RPG, etc. isn't there a way that I could just give the studio itself money via something like Kickstarter? With the low cost of the digital versions and the generous distribution of the materials is there not a way that I could donate more money to this project that ensures that the studio receives the "Lion's share"? Thanks!

Huh, neat, I thought about
Huh, neat, I thought about starting a thread about donations myself, and then this pops up. I was looking around for a PayPal button or something but couldn't find anything. In my opinion, giving money to Posthuman Studios is not only a way to support a great game but also a way to help raise awareness about transhumanism in pop culture. Then again, I haven't actually bought everything there is to buy yet, so I guess I'd better get on that. (Except for physical things. I hate physical things. They occupy space.)

For tax reasons, it would
For tax reasons, it would probably be better for them to create a separate non-profit to accept the donations - otherwise they can be taxable gifts. The non-profit can have the stated goal of something like supporting community licensed RPG literature. All that effort might not be worth it, though. Just mail a check to Posthuman Studios, but don't make it out to anybody in particular. They can fill in their name :)

Oddly I had the same thought, here's the catch I discovered and was able to download most of the source books from Rob Boyle's blog. Having already downloaded them it seems counterproductive to re-download them from a vendor site and have them take a cut of the money for what's essentially a redundant transaction. Although the above comment about a cheque isn't a bad idea but I could see that as having it's own set of problems. Maybe an open ended kickstarter campaign with stretch goals like the guys at Penny-Arcade did? http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pennyarcade/penny-arcade-sells-out?r... (as an example, not sure if this constitutes spam/advertising...)

Hrnh. Does anyone know how
Hrnh. Does anyone know how much of the sale revenue on DriveThuRPG goes directly to Posthuman Studios and how much is kept by the store? Edit: Ah, I think I found the answer here. 70%, probably.

Just a thought but...
Just a thought but... you know you can gift books bough on drivethru to other people right? It's kinda like on amazon. If you want to give PS+ money but you already have all of the EP pdfs that you want, buy them again and give them to someone who needs them. That way you're developing interest in the game which could promote future sales. EP gets a boost in the ratings which could promote future sales. the recipient even gets their own watermarked copy.

Mea Culpa: My mode of speech can make others feel uninvited to argue or participate. This is the EXACT opposite of what I intend when I post.

They won't get a watermarked copy actually, because our PDFs on DriveThruRPG aren't watermarked. They'll get an un-watermarked copy. Watermarking stuff that we explicitly allow people to share seems very counterproductive (and personally, we think watermarks are just plain ugly. :-) )

Accepting pure donations is
Accepting pure donations is kind of a weird space for a for-profit company. We're working on more ways that you can support us financially. Stay tuned. :-)

I do see where you're coming from. It seems like an odd way to spend money. But even though I downloaded all of the books for free, I did go back and buy them through drivethru, for a few reasons; 1) It gets rid of that ugly 'please buy our books if you like them' thing on the front cover. 2) I get automatic revisions when the books are updated with errata. 3) I have all of the books from the same place, so when I get a new computer, I just hit 'download all'. I know that'll be there, even if Rob moves on to another project (2nd edition?)/is raptured/whatever and his blog or links expire. 4) It gets more customers. A lot of people go to DriveThru and say 'what's hot today?' I like seeing those 'gold seller' pictures next to books I think are good books. 5) It's what they asked me to do if I liked their product.

I second this heartily. Hell, it's long been how I operate, even in the realm of things like video games and movies -- even when I obtain them for free, if I like them enough to want to support the people that make them, I always buy a legit copy. Even if I don't keep it for myself and end up giving it away as a gift, then at least I'm both supporting the people I want to support and spreading awareness of things I think are awesome. Win-win. Gotta vote with your money.

You know I had contemplated
You know I had contemplated most of those except #4. Which really is important, my purchase pushes an EXCELLENT product up in the rankings and drives more purchases to the product. That in my mind is almost a fair exchange for that 30% loss.

Perhaps "give" is the wrong
Perhaps "give" is the wrong word. At the heart of the question was: -How can I make sure most if not all of the money I spend on your hard work ends up in your pocket? -How can I ensure that alternate distribution & copyright paradigms are commercially successful? Its good to hear that fans will have other avenues for financial support!

The only choices I know of
The only choices I know of for purchases are Amazon and Drivethru. Of the two, I believe drivethru is cheaper to PS+. (Although I think the thing they MOST prefer is you go to GenCon and buy up all their remaining stock on Sunday.)
