Combining Breathing Implants
What happens when you combine: Enhanced Respiration: (EP p. 305) Morph can breathe in 0.2 to 5 atmospheres and can hold breath for up to 30 minutes. and Respirocytes: (EP p. 309) Increases morphs ability to hold breath to 4 hours ? What about if you add in an Oxygen Reserve? It gives you 3 hours of breathing a normal rates. But could you take a breath, hold it for 30 minutes/4 hours, take another breath, etc. ?

The morph consumes oxygen at
The morph consumes oxygen at some rate, and has various compartments that can store it (blood, respirocytes, oxygen reserve). More compartment capacity means it can hold its breath longer. There is also the matter of getting rid of carbon dioxide, which shouldn't build up: I suspect all of the compartment systems simply absorb it and store it. But this means that a depleted compartment needs to be refilled with O2 and remove CO2 when you breathe: a single breath cannot do that. An oxygen reserve cannot even burp all the CO2 instantly since the pressure and temperature would damage the morph (and respirocytes can at most deliver CO2 to the lungs at the rate they pass by). So I would argue that when fully charged oxygen reserves plus respirocytes give you 7 hours. But once that time is up, you will need to recharge them. A human requires 16 liters of oxygen per hour, so you need 7x16=112 liters oxygen, or 560 liters of air (since it is around 20% oxygen). Since one breath of air is about a liter, at a normal breathing rate of 15 breaths per minute that corresponds to 37 minutes. I am not sure how enhanced respiration is supposed to work. It sounds like it reduces oxygen demands and improves absorption ability. The former would multiply the breath holding period. The current unassisted breath holding record is 9 minutes, and about 20 if you saturate yourself with oxygen. So either the enhancement reduce oxygen demand by a factor of 3, or more likely it has something like respirocytes that both stores and absorbs air oxygen.

I've asked this question
I've asked this question before. I don't think that enhanced respiration and respirocytes mix well. I think they compete for the same resource, space within your blood. In real life, the current world record for holding your breath under water is over 20 minutes. In such individuals, there is a noted considerable increase in the amount of blood cells a person has in their blood. Respirocytes however are also supposed to reside in your blood. If one is supposed to be more efficient at storing oxygen, then at some point one will have to be removed to make room for the other in order to increase oxygen capacity. Since I think that Respirocytes are supposed to work better than red blood cells, I think that all red blood cells would have been replaced (or as much as possible) with Respirocytes. Any holding your breath advantage from Enhanced Respiration, I think, would have been lost. Anyways, 3 hours of air from Oxygen Reserve + 4 hours of air from Respirocytes will give you 7 hours of air tops. This duration can by extended by a factor of 20 with the Hibernation augmentation to nearly 6 days (5.8333 days to be precise) running on the air provided by the previously mentioned augmentations, but you can't do a thing while hibernating. Remember, you need 3 minutes to hibernate and 3 to wake, so those periods of time probably doesn't benefit from reduced oxygen consumption. If you are fine with eating ice and carbon grit instead of breathing, you could pick up the Long Term Life-Support nanoware augmentation as presented in Rimward.

Oh right, link. This is the thread I asked the question at: http://eclipsephase.com/making-biomorph-space-adapted
