More Destino Verde Please?
I'm eagerly waiting for the next installment of Destino Verde. I know no one talks about release schedules but I'm hoping to hear it's in the pipeline waiting for art or something. I've read the first part about half a dozen times so far. Enough that I'm starting to pick at it. So being the fanboi that I am I have to ask a few questions of the author... Jack Grahm; I noticed that Jake, Sage and Smoke are all wearing breathers on the way into the bar even tho their morphs all have Enhanced Respiration. Is this because Rusters still need breathers everywhere on Mars or is it due to the altitude in the Noctis Labrinthus? Is there any place on the surface where rusters can breath unassisted? I also noticed that Sage Kim talks about a Jurisdictional line between the Elysium Rangers and the Noctis Rangers in the Noctis Labrinthus. Does this indicate that the Elysium rangers patrol a territory from somewhere west of Elysium all the way east to Noctis Labrinthus, or is it more an allusion to the idea that there is vast jurisdictional overlap in ranger territories? I understand if you decline to answer I just needed to get the questions out there before they burn a hole in my head. Thanks for writing, can't wait for the next installment. :)

Mea Culpa: My mode of speech can make others feel uninvited to argue or participate. This is the EXACT opposite of what I intend when I post.

I was going to ask about this story too---after reading it (I received Panopticon for Christmas :D ), I expected to find parts 2 and 3 later in the rulebook, perhaps introducing the sections. So, color me curious on when the rest be published also. Have you guys considered collecting all of the EP fiction into a single anthology volume? Holistic Design eventually did this for Fading Suns, and it was very handy to have it all between two covers. Allan.

Likewise, I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the story. While I don't know if it would be financially viable even published as an e-book rather than traditional presses, what I'd love to see would be a collection of EP short stories that might include the previously published stories, but would primarily be new material.

Looking forward to the follow up as well. Were the other two chapters being released as stand alone fiction or part of other products. Definetly hungry for more EP in any form though.

My guess would be in Rimward, as our duo go off Mars to investigate I like the idea of an anthology, especially when reading the Adventures Vignettes thread. that could make a nice contest: write a short story in the EP verse, and the winners would have their stories published together Some editor and page setting, the rest is done by the contestants themselves.

Fairly sure I remember reading that that is the plan. So Part 2 will be in Rimward, and Part 3 will be in the player supplement. But I cannot for the life of me remember where I read that, so I may be off base.

From what I recall, the story will be carried through future products. Given Posthuman Studios also enjoys publishing the stories separately, we'll probably see a new chapter well in advance of the book. And, complete collection after they're all published. As for an anthology, I think it would be a nice idea. There's certainly quite a bit of talent within the community and may even lure in some big names to mingle with the new talent.

The rest of El Destino Verde is in the pipeline, but it's not part of Rimward.

Rusters do generally need breathers outside. Also, it's incredibly cold at night, so a breather is a bit like a muffler on a cold winter day in the northern U.S. The Elysium Rangers patrol pretty much the entire periphery of the TQZ.

Thank you, And Thank YOU, and again, THANK YOU! The idea of rusters breathing freely outside drives me nuts. So, I really appreciate having an answer and this answer in particular. I really love the Mars Setting I'd be happy with one or several more books just about Mars. Interesting that the Elysium rangers are responsible for the whole TQZ. They must be a huge organization. Is there another paramilitary group that shares responsibility for TITAN containment? Or do they do it all on their own? "Thanks, Jack. I'll take my answer off the air, in another 11 months" :D just kiddin.

Or do they do it all on their own? Not really. I assume they rely a great deal on surveillance to do their jobs, with actual interdiction by H+ officers less common. The rangers' main responsibility is keeping people out of the TQZ, not keeping relic war machines in. The latter task falls to the Consortium's various military appendages. That said, Elysium Rangers tend to be prepared for a lot of scenarios that other Ranger departments never have to deal with.
