cyborg that listens to color. He has a different manner of interacting with the world, and even dreams in sound-color. Neat stuff.

Synaesthesia as lifestyle
Synaesthesia as lifestyle choice - what a concept! I wonder what corner cases he has run into - colours that do not sound pleasant to him.

More intriguing to me is the possibilities that synaesthesia has if the process is reversed. Imagine if olfactory or audio stimuli could produce a visual output for someone with the right brain alteration? Imagine if one could rewire the mind so that any stimulus, no matter the sensory organ it excites, sends your every sensory organ into a symphonic burst of sensation. Really, imagine it. A modern synesthete might be able to taste, smell or hear a color, but imagine when they can see a flavor, touch a smell, taste a tactile texture… the combinations and stimulations could be damn near limitless. And it only gets more insane as you add more potential sensory organs. How would synesthesia be affected by enhanced hearing, vision and smell capabilities? What about echolocation organs? What if I have magnetoreception, or radiation sensing? That would certainly be an awesome idea for a hedonist to try out, no?
