Holdout size weapons?
I was wanting a backup pistol for my character, but I couldn't find out which guns have a "holdout" form factor. Anybody have any house rules on these I could suggest to the GM? I'm inclined to follow the lead of the Seeker Armband - take a pistol, halve the ammo, and drop a level of "rate of fire". I'm not sure what to do about beam weapons - they cybernetic laser is basically the same as the laser pulser but with half the ammo, but drops the stun mode. So a holdout shard pistol would have 50 shots, and drop the full auto. I'm not sure I'm 100% happy with that house rule, but it might do.

Note that seekers do damage
Note that seekers do damage based on the ammunition, not the weapon. So that houserule doesn't suffice for weapons that have damage defined by the weapon. The pistols give a good gauge for how to adjust damage, however. Lose 2 armor pierce, lose 2 damage to shift down a size. That might be a good gauge for determining the effects of a holdout.

Holdout guns typically do use the same ammunition as their larger sized versions, though (say 9mm Luger for instance - there are also high caliber holdout guns). They typically don't have the room for as much ammunition, however. Also, in regular firearms their typically shorter barrel does tend to reduce their velocity. Their barrels aren't always shorter, however. In addition, tech possibilities like retractable smart barrels could mitigate this or simply a better round loader system like the Boberg Arms XR9-S could give a better barrel length (admittedly you could put that same round loader in a full frame pistol). I suppose lower velocity could be modeled by a reduction in AP/dmg - but so could a reduction in range.

The shift in pistol size does both, so you might want to do so as well when shifting to holdout. The range pattern for pistols, when dropping a size, seems to be -5 meters for medium range, -10 meters for long and extreme range.
