Backup Insurance
What does this entail? Do you get resleeved as an infomorph, or does the insurer sleeve you in whatever you were most recently wearing? How much extra is cortical stack retrieval? I'm just a bit confused on these points...

money talks
One form or another, it comes down to that How much are you ready to pay for a better inssurance? the basic one is [Moderate] But you can add options to your policy. What kind of morph and augmentation you want pre-installed -provided it's aviable/legal how much longer are they supposed to wait before they write you off as dead and resleave a backup? what length would they go to get your stack back if possible? it's all a matter of price A Premium insurance Vs an economic one, you might say if you are short on money and get the basic, don't complain you find yourself in a Case, or a second hand morph who contracted syphilis in a dollhouse, or with weird addiction to hard to find smart drugs it also provides good story hooks -a crime was committed by someone who was using this "new" morph of yours before, and familly/mob/autorities haven't been notified of the change. ergo, the newly sleeved character find themselves hunted for something they didn't do! -Coming home after a time in a far away habitat, you realize you weren't resleeved in the morph you left in depot at the egocasting facility Where is your morph? who got it? is it accident or purposeful felony, and why? -You got an apparently good morph for a price tag lower than normal. It's nearly new only been used once, and only for a day. But as soon as you get sleeved, you realize that the morph has a ghost rider module and it's occupied...by a fork of a NPC the character caused harm to or whose plans were thwarted by the party. And now you're that NPC's personnal bitch. Life can suck sometimes, right?

I've argued with myself about
I've argued with myself about this question too. Page 269, "At the basic level [cost; Low/month], backup insurance will bring the character back as an infomorph... More expensive versions [cost; Moderate/month] will automatically resleeve you in the pre-purchased morph of your choice" One way of reading this is to assume that the clause "pre-purchased" means that you don't get a new morph unless you've allready paid for it and the cost;Moderate backup insurance is nothing more than bodybank fees with backup resleeving thrown in for free. In my opinion the cost;moderate backup insurance does not mean that you get resleeved into a 50000¢ Fury or remade morph like the one you had. But I've never been able to decide what higher cost backup insurance does include.

Mea Culpa: My mode of speech can make others feel uninvited to argue or participate. This is the EXACT opposite of what I intend when I post.

On pg. 331 it states that higher cost insurance covers the cost of "extra effort" in retrieving cortical stacks.

At 1000 credits per month,
At 1000 credits per month, the body bank would still be ahead if you resleeved a 20000 credit morph every 20 months, as they could rent out the morph AND collect interest on your insurance fees. Presumably if you keep resleeving your insurance rates will go up. Anyway, if I were GMing I'd allow around 80k of value for Moderate, and 12.5k for Low insurance.

Thank you. This helps immensely.
