Printing problems
Hello to all, Sorry if this is the wrong forum. I just received my brand new copy of the Eclipse Phase core book by mail. I'm in Europe so I ordered mine through Leisure Games. They're very reliable. The book shows no physical flaws. However, when I skimmed the sample character pages I noticed an odd printing error. The printing in every one of those pages (154-169) is cut on the top side, so that the character titles is slightly outside the printed border as if the page was too large for the paper when it was printed. The book was sealed so I assume this happened at the printer. Anyone else noticed this problem? Please check the attached image and compare it to the PDF.

Every copy is like that. It
Every copy is like that. It is just the way they formatted the books. Every printing run has a margin of error, and Eclipse Phase happens to have text that falls into those margins. I seem to remember reading from Adam Jury (their layout genius man) that he may try to avoid it in the future. But that might not of actually happened... Anyway, yeah, every copy is like that.

Not doubting your word, but
Not doubting your word, but that seems odd considering that in this video all the sample characters pages seem fine (from 1m25s onward). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSA3k9adrFs Was this a 3rd printing error? Or every book in every printing was like that and only the Gen Con book was printed correctly?

I think that it may have been
I think that it may have been a third printing issue. The first printing was done with different printers (not sure about the second printing). But I do know that this issue appears in every third printing copy that I have seen. I have four copies of the third printing (don't ask) and they all have the same cutoff. As do all my friends. And we had a thread on these forums a while ago within which similar cut-offs were reported in the US. EDIT: Quote from AJ "The placement of the text at the top of the page is an intentional design decision; in the printing process there is a several MM tolerance for cutting, so some copies are cut more "tightly" than others at the top." He says some copies, but I have yet to see a copy which does not have it cut off. I wouldn't worry about it, it is essentially mint =)

The core book 1st and 2nd
The core book 1st and 2nd printing were done at different printers than the 3rd printing, hence the differences in the cut. After seeing dozens of books from various points in the print run, it looks like they did consistently cut it like your book. Eclipse Phase never was about playing it safe. :)
