Assamite Morph
Alright guys, I'm going to need some of your thoughts on this one. What I'm going for here is a black ops biomorph based of the Ghost design, but with significant changes to its look and feel. Principally, this one is designed for gatecrashers who need something clandestine and deadly. It isn't meant for recon at all, just sneaking about like a ninja and killing. It should do badly in an actual skirmish, but not so much that it becomes a liability. Let me know what you think; if its overpowered, suggest ways we might be able to remedy that. Morph Model: He-46 6th Generation Ghost "Assamite" The Assamite is built on the genetic material of reptiles, sharks, monkeys, and a bit of human dna thrown in. Unlike most genetically engineered humanoids, this one was designed from scratch rather than from a human template onto which improvements are made. It's design was very specific the needs of a densely jungle-like environment with very little to no source of light at all. Thus, the morph has no eyes and no ears (an anomaly which its geneticists could not repair), a weakness which would need external sensors, probably from an ecto, directly plugged into the brain through an access jack to remedy. It does, however, compensate for such shortcomings through its forked tongue that is sensitive to the taste of the air and its gills which it uses to identify the water it breathes. And just like sharks, the morph is instinctively drawn to blood and often induces the ego towards a lone-wolf-on-the-hunt attitude. Make no mistake, the morph, due its inherent bestiality, is predisposed to obsessive and compulsive behaviors, like stalking, addictions, and anti-social tendencies; all of which could be overcome by a strong-will ego. Base: Ghost CP: 100 Cost: Expensive+ Advantages: +10 COO +10 REF +10 WIL Bioware: Basic Biomods, Mesh Inserts, Direction Sense, Heavy Bioweave Armor, Chameleon Skin, Circadian Regulation, Endocrine Control, Hibernation, Enhanced Smell (Like a Snake and A Shark), Gills, Poison Gland, Prehensile Feet (Three Toes), Toxin Filter, Claws (Cyberlimb: Three Fingers), Clean Metabolism, and Enhanced Respiration. Cyberware: Access Jack, Cyberlimb+*4, Reflex Booster, Implanted Toxins, and Nanophages. Traits: Rapid Healer, Limber, Improved Immune System II, Pain Tolerance II, Addiction: Blood III, Implant Rejection II, No cortical Stack, Severe Allergy: UV Rays, bright lights. Alien Appearance, Fast Metabolism, Temperature intolerance (Warm), Psi Chameleon, and Psi Defense. I'm also looking to make a character that matches the drapes. I need a green beret type individual whose entire identity was fabricated by his corporation to secure his services. Enjoy, suggestions are welcome.

great idea, one little nit
And that is the name. incorporating vampire stuff in EP, it just clashes if it's not in a simspace Since it's made for jungle stuff, I'd rather think they picked a name from Hawaiian, Amazonian, African, Indonesian or South West Asian folklore. Ali'i, for example, after the Hawaiian Night Marchers stories Amanikable would also come to mind, after the Filipino patron god of the hunters

Hell, I'm Filipino and I didn't even know that. I'm working on incorporating everything White Wolf into EP btw. But if it clashes much, I'll change it. I'm lookin for something Arabic though, but now that you've suggested it. Why not Asuang? But I'm not a big fan of Tagalog. If I could find the pure equivalent of it in Hiligaynon I'd do so, but there is none that I know of, so I might just stick to Asuang.

You could actually make the
You could actually make the morph a hemovore if you wanted. Keeping it more like a Jem'Hadar and Ketracel White, where the enzyme is actually blood. This can be a safety measure concocted by the designers of the morph to keep any possibility of rogue agents in check. Which leads to vampires, with fangs being a quick evolutionary adaptation to get blood when on the hunt and not near a medical lab.

I love your thinking. Indeed, indeed. Hmmm. But the dude isn't a vampire in that sense, so a diet solely based on blood wouldn't be enough to sustain its metabolism. I was hoping to use blood more as a source of psychic energy, with an creature's liver being the most abundant reservoir of such energy.

energy source
How about electrical eels DNA? A certain Dr Anton Sevarius used that trick for his own hybridation project, back in 1995 [img]http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb58378/gargoyles/images/1/17/Sevari... Granted, his hybrids were winged and needed the energy to sustain their flight, but invisibility and Psi-Gamma must be really demanding energy wise

'psychic' energy? Are you
'psychic' energy? Are you looking at making this more of an async adaptation? or just something more ritualistic?

Occultists believe that blood
Occultists believe that blood is a potent reservoir of psychic energy, most especially the liver. I think its a combination of both. What would you mean by ritualistic, anyway?
Prophet710 Prophet710's picture
Occult like practices.
Occult like practices. Something that gives the ego a pseudo-mental boost similar to a placebo effect rather than having and actual energetic charge. That portion doesn't make much sense to me. What kind of energy are you looking for and for what? Or did I not read something about the morph?

Psychic energy. Some people
Psychic energy. Some people call it mana, other call it vril, and so on. I don't intend for this to go the whole nine yards of Hard Science so it's not necessarily what you'd call a placebo effect, but placebo effects do help relative to having the proper state of mind for these kinds of practices. And I'm not sure yet if its ritualistic, the use of this blood. If you think about it, near anything if given enough symbolism and significant meaning becomes ritualistic. Crowley himself claimed that the mere act of sneezing is by itself a magical act. And no, the psi isn't included with the morph. It's more of a personality or brain thing, so its entirely an Ego trait. Just doesn't come with the morph so I refrained from mentioning it on the morph itself. Basically. The energy itself doesn't matter. All that matters is that the character uses blood to fuel his Psi abilities.

Then it sounds like a mental
Then it sounds like a mental instability, the character believes blood does "x". In all reality blood doesn't do anything, save for cover your hands and fingers in enzymes, minerals and hormones, but the character believes otherwise. Which, in this instance is all that matters.

True, but the thing is...
True, but the thing is... I actually intend on reducing psi strain through the ingestion of blood, the same way vampires in white wolf spend blood to use their disciplines. Like I said, mana. But, if you don't want magic in your campaign, that could work to. I just legitimately want to introduce magic into this, because come on. I'm a big fan of modern fantasy, Jim Butcher and all that, and I'm insanely curious on how magic would translate itself in a sophisticated transhumanist setting. I mean, if you get magic in the modern world, what would it look like in the future?
Prophet710 Prophet710's picture
Well, that's your flavor.
Well, that's your flavor. Personally I'm hesitant to introduce anything like that into this setting seeing as it is so far removed from something like SR or DND. I also don't like magic, makes no sense in a deep hard sci fi setting.

I was going more along the
I was going more along the lines of Mage actually, not DnD, but DnD has great implementations of magic for combat. But hey, anything you do with magic you could do with sci-fi so that should do.
