Black Swan Theory Eclipse Phase Campaign
Hi all, After a bit of planning my eclipse phase game is now ready to begin. I've created a small wiki for my players at http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/blackswantheory with short character bios and other details. Feel free to check it out. I aim to start with 5 players in the next couple of weeks and some have agreed to do the write ups as we play, so the site will update with adventure logs and expansions to the wiki as things progress. A lot of the wiki is pulled from source books with some sections or additions of my own. We'll be playing once every 2-3 weeks. Hope you enjoy. If you have any, I'm happy to answer questions here or on the site. -SS

Re: Black Swan Theory Eclipse Phase Campaign
Thank you for the post! Update: So the game has been temporarily delayed a month due to one of the players going overseas unexpectantly. On the plus side I've used the time to tweak a few things. For example, during games I always see people struggle to remember other character's names. In Eclipse Phase any character should typically know more than another character's name but also their reputation, social networking posts, etc. So I created the below. These will be put in plastic place holders infront of everyone (kind of like conference name plates). We'll also update people's reputation in real time as it is used (we'll just write on the sheet with a pen). Pretty cool props! Nice job on them. I bet your players will love them -- I know _I_ would get a kick out of using something like this for a game.

Trailer is up
Don't know how to post videos on this forum but with the first adventure finally starting this month, I've done a little trailer to announce it. As always, everything can be found at the website: http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/blackswantheory/adventure-log/tra... -SS

Cheers. Always great to see other Australian players are around. Have you got a game going? Thanks for the comments on the site. I'll try to keep this thread updated for when we have updates posted on the main site, we've been experimenting with Obsidian Portal for a while but this is the first time I've put in real effort so I'm keen for it to work out.

I used to run a weekly
I used to run a weekly 'display' game at the local gamestore here, but these days i'm running a closed-group campaign for about 5 people. Keep us informed and updated about your game, if you have G+ (private) message me your tag i'll add you to my Roleplaying circle. Actually that might not be a bad idea if people are interested in general, starting up an Eclipse Phase G+ circle.

Currently I'm not on G+, but I think a G+ circle could be good. Maybe float the idea in the general forum? Not long now until the start!

It did go well!
It did go well! First Adventure Log is up for those interested: http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/blackswantheory/adventure-log A mysterious signal is received from a ship that disappeared on a company job over a year ago, the ship is powered down and may crash into Venus or the heroes current home space station! Assembling a team, Firewall is on the scene and the team finds a number of holes about what the ship was doing. Now they are about to depart to rescue any people in need and to divert the ship's course. What happens next? Tune in and continue to check Black Swan Theory (http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/blackswantheory). Why not favourite it so that you get an update when a new post is made? As always, happy to discuss or give extra detail for those interested.

Love your campaign! Nice Wiki too. Obsidian Portal is pretty cool. I don't mean to hijack this thread, but can anyone tell me about any social networks that may be a bit more customization that say Facebook for use in a game like this? My idea is too incorporate a real mock up of the players social media sites in my game. I still have not thought through whether this will add to the game or game immersion or just become some kind of useless time consuming add on. I like the idea of rep in the game and was wondering if there was a way to use modern social media to mimic that out of or even in game if playing remotely via a virtual table top. So any ideas? I have Facebook account and use twitter but that is the extent of my social media knowledge IRL. What media platform could I use that I could modify and make into some kind of Space Book type deal to represent the players online mesh AR version of their Rep in game?

Delays due to real life but
Delays due to real life but the game is still going. Adventure logs are now updated and we will begin the next session in the next month. http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/blackswantheory/adventure-log In terms of a social media site for rping, I'm not sure. I've been experimenting with my game being e-friendly (with real time uploads of NPCs on the site as PCs meet them with details they can find on the mesh) but I'm sure others have been experimenting. I like Obsidian Portal for this as it allows me to 'pre-load' information and then post it for public viewing when I want. With the work going on to make the site more user friendly in the next couple of months, I imagine it will become easier to use and less time consuming as well.

Kudos for the videos, logs
Kudos for the videos, logs and all the work you've put into this. I was just going to have a peek and ended up reading all of the adventure logs, completely hooked. Look forward to what is coming next. Any chance you might share your adventure writeup with the community, or if you're worried about your players reading it you can just PM it to me :) With your media focus you might find this useful: http://rpg-ambience.com/ I have played around with it a bit and spoke to the creator who seems like a really nice guy, and it is quite a neat tool for sharing some images, music and text with your group around the table. My idea is to use this with a tablet to trigger music, audio clips, images and names and other data on a big TV screen to make for an audio-visual Eclipse Phase experience.

Email notifications didn't come through
Always good to get comments, unfortunately I didn't get my email notifications so apologies for the delay in responding. We are Perth based! Will PM you Jason, always good to discuss Eclipse Phase (it's pretty small in Perth). We do have a spot open now that one of the players has moved interstate if you are interested. Maskin, I gave rpgambience a look. It seems good in terms of covering the essentials, being browser based it gets big bonus points as well. I was using Windows movie maker before they gutted it in W7 and am now very slowly getting across PowerDirector.
