Are there any available new or on-going games being run somewhere across the Mesh? Locally, I am hoping to introduce and run Eclipse Phase with my "tabletop" variety group here. I am not adverse to consider a live group somewhere south of the Metro in Minnesota. I would like to practice playing Eclipse Phase (other than, of course, having fun while doing it) just to evaluate and get a feel of the game and system. Thanks!

Re: Looking For Play-By-Post Group
I'm playing in a EP game over on the GiantITP forums. We're 6 right now. If any drop out, I'll let you know. I'm in the North Metro, so if you ever get a real life game together, I'd be interested.

Re: Looking For Play-By-Post Group
Sure! Sounds good. :) Our local group is sort of in flux due to all the winter holidays, jobs, and whatnot. I can be sure we'll get to Eclipse Phase though, probably within the month or so, we'll see. I'll give you a tell or pm or something if the time becomes ripe. And, like I said, it's a good time to brush up on the system and setting before that happens.

Im one of several GMs running stories on RPOL.net. Just had a few players opt to give GMing a try so they should be starting games of their own sometime in the future.

Re: Looking For Play-By-Post Group
I also wish to ask if there is anyone using Infrno.net for a game and have spots open to play, or even if one's starting up soon?

I put up a call for players over at GiantITP.com. Here's the link: http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=13099145.

Re: Looking For Play-By-Post Group
I'm really surprised that there aren't more people clamoring for pbp games of EP. Just from this one thread, it seems like there are a lot of games ready to start or have started up. Reading the giantitp thread you linked, it seems like things worked out great for you.

Re: Looking For Play-By-Post Group
I have been making orbit around Infrno.net for games, but that's been a little like Gatecrashing without addresses. I'm still open to anyone out there doing play-by-posts and will give a looksee and come up with anything anyone is doing and report back, if I remember. Play-by-post may or may not be a very good means of roleplaying for this game, but certain aspects might reach better detail. It just has my experience at being a slower medium. Infrno.net offered several other options than PBP.

Re: Looking For Play-By-Post Group
I think the biggest factor keeping there from being more PbP games is that Eclipse Phase has a fairly small playerbase, and PbP games are notorious for extremely high attrition rates. You typically have a reasonable number of people express interest, then a good percentage don't even stick around through character creation. Assuming you manage to get a reasonable number of players, you're probably going to lose at least a couple of them early on, and it can be very difficult to sustain even a game where the players are initially very highly motivated.

Re: Looking For Play-By-Post Group
All this is true, though this is hardly the thread to carry a commentary on PBP in general. (Not a criticism, just saying I don't want to derail here by further discussion on the topic, but your comment is worth response and expansion.) I don't want to sound like their salseman, but I investigated Infrno.net for that very reason. This day and age of nearly-ubiquitous and accessible video chat and other functions could blend very well for those that don't have the access or availability to meet in person with a local group like in the "grand old days" of tabletop, while others cannot take the (exaggeration implied) achingly slow play-by-post route. Remember play-by-email? Remember written letters and snail-mail? How did people do anything, right? Anyway, this is one of those situations where the game setting oddly reflects or projects the real universe the actual game is played within. We'll reach the day and age, maybe, where we can use our mesh inserts to play real-time, real-fi virtual/simulspace games of Eclipse Phase about playing a character that plays in simulspace... (I've always been tweaked by the idea of having a Sims character that plays an MMO/sim where he plays a simulation of the guy playing a Sim game with...you get the infinite loop, holographic principle here.) Anyway, I hope our technology can expand our gaming options to find that middle ground, which Infrno.net offered -- virtual gameboards, video conferencing, and so on, all in one engine and site. I loves me some MMO but gaming may take the next level where the MMO is created on the fly, in a lot stronger version of Neverwinter and whatnot.
Long story longer: trying anything to play the game, darn it! :)

Re: Looking For Play-By-Post Group
I was going to start my own thread but figured the title pretty much sums up my interest!
I have the kind of crazy life that lets me be online most of the time, but which makes meeting up for 4-8 hours for a tabletop or even a Skype/video type session unworkable...therefore I love me some PbP.
Besides, reading and writing were my first loves, and I feel much more immersed in PbP than I am able to get trying to play a character in real time anyways (though I do miss tabletop gaming from time to time...I just can never commit to a consistent time, and it seems everyone else I know has the same problem).
I'm actually hardcore dedicated to my pbp games...even with the snail's pace of it all...and I get frustrated when players or DMs are not as dedicated and the game slows or just dies.
So...anyone down for a rousing pbp game of EP?
Also...I'm just not that great of a GM, so I don't even really try. I have neither the time to put into planning everything, nor the skill at juggling more than one or two characters at a time, let alone an entire plot.

Re: Looking For Play-By-Post Group
I'd be interested in a PbP game of EP, as I also have a miserably complicated life but do have time to check and post daily. If you manage to accrete enough players here or elsewhere, please let me know!

Off the topic of PbP a bit but...Hey! Welcome back! Hope we'll be seeing you more around the forums again?

Re: Looking For Play-By-Post Group
Hello! And thanks for the welcome back.
Probably, a bit! I have a lot of reading to catch up on. How are you doing? How'd the game turn out? (A bit more relevant on an LFG forum!)

If anyone ever gets one going
If anyone ever gets one going, I would be interested as well. I have been in three, but they suffered the fate of far to many pbp games and died far to soon.

I'm also looking for a game.
I'm also looking for a game. I'm trying to run a game locally, but not everyone in my group wants to start something new. In the meantime I'd like to try my hand as a player.
