Need another form-fillable character sheet!

Need another form-fillable character sheet!
After 2 campaigns using the standard Form-Fillable character sheet found in Resources, we began straining the sheet. While there are sheets with extra space/utility on the interwebz, none of them are form fillable... Anyone have a link to a superior character sheet which has form-fillable fields? Most of my playgroup will be using Foxit...

Foxit Reader allows you to enter in text boxes into PDFs as well. I haven't used this feature much myself, but this might give you what you are looking for with a little work. There might be better methods, but I honestly wouldn't know them. EDIT: The typewriter functions nicely as well.

Re: Need another form-fillable character sheet!
I can work up form-fillable versions of one or more of the sheets I've posted at Unpossible Labs. NewAgeOfPower has already mentioned that he'd like more Armor slots. If you have suggestions for changes that could be made to the sheets I already have up, I'll try to incorporate them as I make the sheets form-fillable. Just let me know either by private message or email (erik@unpossiblelabs.com).

Oh man, if you can make form-fillable versions, that would be damn awesome. If you are going to make them form-fillable, might I suggest you arrange the skill section differently? I would remove the field skills and list the rest of the standard active skills in the first and perhaps second column (so, everything except Exotic Melee, Exotic Ranged, Hardware, Medicine, Networking and Pilot), while leaving a bunch of simply empty spaces for us to fill out our own field skills. I might recommend the same thing for the knowledge skill column, simply leaving it void of lettering so players can fill in what they need. I might recommend blanking out the rep section, in case a playgroup is using custom rep systems, or the player is taking part in rep systems outside the standard 7 (like x-rep, and other rep systems that might come out in the future). And honestly, I'd say it's unnecessary to make the sheet do any math. A lot of fillable sheets do this, and it oftentimes leads to multiple edits and alterations to make sure the math works out perfectly, not to mention the occasional discovery that something on another page references something you might not notice (like SOM affecting melee weapon bonus damage). It just gets irritating. Just leave us to math things out for ourselves. We're grown ups, we go pee-pee standing up (or sitting down, depending on our genders). Other than that though, I'd say leave it as it is. You did a great job with the layouts, especially in the landscape version. But as a bonus request, if you find a way to format the landscape version so that it can be tri-folded like a brochure (or like an Apocalypse World character sheet, because I absolutely love their character sheet layouts) without the text falling on creases, I will love it forever.

Yeah, no math please. Um. I'm going to have an intro/character creation session this Saturday, future sessions are going to occur after a week and change. I'll give you my player's feedback asap.

Interesting that both of you mentioned calculations. I was thinking about that just today, and came to the same conclusion. Also, thanks for your thoughts, Decivre. Looking forward to your further feedback, NewAgeofPower.

Re: Need another form-fillable character sheet!
Just created v1.1 of the landscape sheet. It incorporates changes to the layout of skills on the front page and rejiggers the back page to provide a lot more space for armor and weapons. I haven't made it form-fillable yet, but please let me know what you think of this revision. It's at Unpossible Labs, along with the OmniGraffle source doc.

Oh, this is much nicer. I love the new setup for the first page. A lot more open space for us to arrange field skills as we like. Excellent. One thing I do have to ask is why you went with 5 armor slots, 4 ranged weapon slots, and 3 melee weapon slots on the second page, rather than just 4 of each. I suppose people are more likely to wear more armor, though. I definitely like the new setup. Gives me more space for my mercenary pilot character to fit his pilot and hardware skills.

Mostly because of a request for lots of armor slots, but 4/4/4 probably makes more sense. Glad you like the revisions. Hopefully it won't take too long to make the form-fillable version, but it may be a few days. As always, more feedback is appreciated.

Don't see the 1.1 Sheet. I'll take a look at the 5-4-3 layout, and then judge it against the 4-4-4 layout.

I just redid the Unpossible Labs page with less verbiage. The 1.1 sheet should be easier to find now.

A review
I haven't done live playtesting with the new sheets yet, waiting for Form-Fill versions for that. This review is not final, especially since Rimward is out and I won't get to it until tonight. As with the original EP Char Sheet, non-munchkin/extreme characters find it more than good enough. The new Landscape sheet preserves the efficient feeling yet spacious subtlety of the old one. With my Munchkin characters, they definitely appreciate the extra armor slots- the combat Munchkins sometimes use ALL 5 slots! I feel, if you had only 4, it would still satisfy 75% of characters. 3 Melee slots is probably good for 90% of characters, due to melee's inefficiency. I may one day see a guy who wants to wield a bizarre variety of different melee weapons, but for now 3 is plenty. 4 Ranged is good too, but what if someone wants to play Blasto, the Hanar Spectre ? A guy in our previous playgroup had an octomorph wielding 7 Heavy Rail Pistols, 6 without penalty due to his 5x Ambidexterity, and an X-ray emitter (multiple team members could see x-rays) in the 8th hand. The -10 Penalty might have caused a few failures, but he was pretty optimized. I'd definitely keep 5x armor (or make it 6, I need to read up on Rimward...), even though I'll be ruling against stacking armor mods in my campaign, I know some of my players are survivability fetishists.

1: Thanks for review.
1: Thanks for review. 2: Holy crap, that's a gnarly octomorph.

lol
Blasto is not an octomorph, but inspiration for his character ;p

That configuration honestly works fine on the existent sheet. It only uses one actual weapon, just many of that one weapon. So it should work fine. Now if that octomorph was using 7 different varieties of pistol, then you might have a problem.

Availability
So I scrambled to get the fillable version ready. And it is in theory ready (though untested on anything but OS X). Unfortunately there's a glitch with the app I'm using to create the form, and it won't remove the app watermark even though I've paid for the app. Annoying, to say the least. I'm going to check in later tonight to see if they've answered my support email and fixed the issue. If they have, I may be able to get a version up on Unpossible Labs for download by Saturday morning. If not, I won't likely have it ready until Sunday at the earliest. Grrr.

Well
Firstly, a thanks and congratulations on the quick work. Secondly, the next session begins in 9 hours. I'll be exiting my house in 7... I don't think I or my player would care about the watermark (unless is a horrendous eyesore).

New version just released
Version 1.3 of my landscape oriented, 2-page sheet is now ready, and it is form-fillable. Thanks to NewAgeOfPower for the valuable feedback along the way. Sorry it took so long to get it tightened up! You can find it at Unpossible Labs.
